I think this thread has been done before, but I had to laugh at this guy's career: Sergio Enriquez 1-0-0 taking the scalp of unbeaten 21-0 Jose Luis Ramirez (102-9 with 83 KOs). And that was his only fight. I have to wonder what that guy thought later in life. I mean he fights one fight, beats an unbeaten fighter, who later turns out to be an ATG and one of the best knockout punchers of all time. He must have thought to himself "Hmm, what if I had stuck at that boxing racket for a bit longer?" Imagine if he talked about it in bars, when people are like "Oh yeah, what's your record?" "1-0..." "Ha, ya bum" "...against Jose Luis Ramirez"
I'd be willing to bet that Sergio Enriquez has more fights though that have probably gone unrecorded. I find it hard to believe - even in Mexico looking to pad Ramirez' record - that his first and only fight was a 10 rounder against a 21-0 guy which he won and then failed to try and capitalize on.
Yeah I think you're right, but it's fun to imagine these kind of things Basically boxrec is about as reliable as a beaten boxer's explanation of why he lost the fight.
Boxrec is a great resource and it's reliable to the degree of paying special attention at posting up only pretty certain fights with more than one source citing it, is my understanding. But, certainly, it doesn't mean these guys really did only have one fight or what have you. I have seen a lot of Vic Darchinyan's early opponents with boxrec records very different than what they were announced as for the television broadcast and while you never know, I assume a lot of them for worse records or better at least fought more than boxrec can verify and are willing to post.
Gipsy Daniels KO'd Max Schmeling in one round two years before Schmeling became a heavyweight champion. His record is not that great though. He's a bit of a journeyman.
