NOBODY giving Canelo his respect tonight & its EMBARRASSING!!

See, that is absolute garbage.

 

GGG power was instantly putting Caramello on the back foot. Canelo was discouraged when he threw those so called eye catching punches but did not put a dint on Golovkin. Tripple G punches had Canelo running every round and at one stage Caramello looked like the pressure was slowly bothering him...He hit GGG but triple G instantly had his ass on the ropes and cracked him.

That's what was happening.

 

Correct, I give Canelo respect although I picked him and honestly expected him to do better.

But may I note that GGG hasn't got respect either? Most Canelo fans here thought that their guy would expose GGG as a hype-job.

 

Canelo landed more cracking punches than G did. Canelo set traps for G and G walked right into them. It was a good fight, G did OK, G did good. He was very determined in there stalking Canelo but he's not as skilled as Canelo. He was wide open for counters which Canelo took advantage of. Canelo landed hard uppercuts and body punches. G landed one light uppercut that barely grazed Canelo's beard. (Canelo's uppers were much harder, much more cracking) We can study the footage if you want.

 

Did you really think G won? Honestly. Who landed the better more impressive, more significant punches : G or Canelo?

 

It's funny how lots of Canelo fans were getting their fishnets all bunched up when people suggested that Adelaide Byrd was a bad appointmsnt and that there was a good chance she would put in a ridiculous card.

We all saw this coming and yet again the sport's reputation suffers.

 

Hold on a minute, Canelo is labelled by many as the best fighter in the business. By rights he should have defeated Golovkin, instead he was gifted a draw. Canelo is a good fighter no doubt but Golovkin is a great, he didn't perform like a great as he is past it but he still beat a guy that's in his prime and arguably the best fighter out there.

 

Yes I do, 7-5 to Golovkin for me.

Almost everyone in the boxing world agrees with me, I'm not interested in getting into an argument over the scorecard.

But even if ppl scored it otherwise, if they thought Canelo was going to school the "hype-job" GGG they ought to give GGG respect, exactly the same as giving respect to Canelo if they thought GGG was going to KO Canelo easily.

 

Both guys impressed me. GGG won clear though

Yeah, unfortunately not. Especially not today, people are too emotionally involved with the fight to listen to reason. And that includes some usually good posters.

 

I'm not interested in getting into an argument over the scorecard either. 7-5 seems reasonable to me. Depends on what you prefer, quality vs quantity, counter punching vs aggressor. I preferred Canelo's quality punching, you preferred G's aggression, stalking, determination, etc. Close fight no doubt. Look forward to the rematch. I give G respect, he was very determined, he got some nice punches in there. Very back and forth affair.

Maybe so but Golovkin is that bit greater IMO. Do you honestly believe Canelo would hang with him if both were at their peak?

 

This is how I felt.

Had it for Golovkin by 2 rounds and frankly I was expecting 118-110 scores to Canelo on their pre-fiilled cards all round from the Vegas judges.

Canelo moved much better than I thought that he would and I was impressed to see that he kept his speed from 154. I knew that he would be tough but he ate some big shots without trouble. On the other hand his best punch did little to GGG who walked right through them. At round 6 he started fading heavily as I'd expected; but kudos to him for his second wind and late round rally.

On the other hand Golovkin started a bit flat and where, oh where the **** was his bodywork? I felt that he was clearly the aggressor and that he was pushing Canelo back for 80% of the fight. As expected he did some of his best work when he had Canelo on the ropes. Once he warmed up he set a nice tempo and kept it throughout. He does seem slower though, and in the rematch he really needs to smash Canelo's body to take away his late fight wind and his legs.

I really enjoyed the fight and look forward to the rematch.

PS: I agree that the draw is terribly convenient and in the light of the promoters talking about a trilogy, suspicious. I wonder. I wonder ...
