Nobody in the history of boxing can beat the best version of Lewis. Nobody.

What a total JOKE!! :rofl :rofl

If ordinary fighters like McCall and Rahman could shatter Lewis's shaky whiskers, there are quite a few top level punchers in boxing history that would likely do it earlier, and more brutally. :nod

Lewis is SO overrated it's not funny, as this absurd thread demonstrates.

Interesting thread. I thought of a way that Rocky could win though.:tong Lewis was prone to hubris in many of his fights, Rahman 1 and Mavrovic come to mind.(not that he lost to mavrovic, but he made it so much harder than it had to be, but he also knew that Mav couldn't hurt him so that's prolly why he fought that way) So Lewis sees 185 lb Rocky and thinks " this is gonna be easy" throws out his defence and gets "ROCKED!" My point is Lennox is beatable, his record shows it. And I'm a big fan of Lewis, not the Klitschkos.:yikes

    Stoppage was very debatable.

Lewis seem to be hurt, but when was the last time Mccall showed finishing power and instincts? It is perfectly reasonable and believable to imagine Lewis just clinching and grabbing and surviving until he recovered his legs and going on to win a wide UD.

Prime Lewis 100% fully focused will beat Prime Mccall 100% fully focused
    100% of the time.

Still Mccall was very underrated. i favor him over many many heavyweights past and present.

This is my favorite fight of Lennox's.

He raised his arms for the first time as a show of love to the British fans.

After the fight, nobody left the arena and everybody waited for Lennox to speak.

Even though I thought Lewis was 'seeing stars' I think being the Champion he should of at least be given the opportunity to continue.

Quotes from boxing writers prior to the Lewis-Golota fight.

Lewis was a massive under dog.

"Golota will force Lewis into his kind of a fight, and his power will be the determining factor in the bout." - Dave Bontempo, ESPN Boxing Analyst

"Golota is an underrated fighter who doesn't get enough credit. He will have leaned his lessons from the Bowe fights and will finish off Lewis." - Anthony Gargano, New York Post

"Golota in two rounds - no contest. I think Lewis talks, but can't back it up with the walk. Golota will absolutely be too much for him." - Dan Hirshberg, The Trentonian

"Golota will put too much pressure on Lewis, who will make the mistake of slugging it out with him." - Steve Sneddon, Gannet News Service

"It'll be close through four, and then Golota hits and hurts Lewis in the fifth with a booming right. He then proceeds to wear Lewis down for a ninth-round win." - Chris Thorne, Newark Star-Ledger

"Golota will turn the fight into a war. he can take a short. I'm not sure that Lewis can. Lewis will try to keep his distance but won't be able to for long." - Robert Seltzer, El Paso Times.

Robert Seltzer, Chris Thorne, Steve Sneddon, Dan Hirshberg, Dave Bontempo, and Anthony Gargano don't know **** about boxing.

Great post, people let being a fan override common sense far too often in boxing.
Understand there is a case to be made for any fighter to be beaten, and (in regards to h2h) examining losses is very important.

That said, Lewis is a very tough fight for any HW in history imo.

Not when the losses are clearly a case of under estimating and being beaten due to a lack of motivation, focus and other external factors.
You can examine how Holyfield will do in mythical h2h's by rewatching the Riddick Bowe fight. Because that is two prime elite heavyweights going at each other. The flaws and strengths of each can clearly be picked apart and analyzed. Both were elite, both were ready, both were fully motivated.

There is no possible way for you to come to a fair conclusion of how well a prime fully motivated Lewis will perform in a mythical h2h by watching the first Rahman fight.
Just like there is no possible way for you to come to a fair conclusion of how well a Prime Wladimir will perform in a mythical h2h based on the Corrie Sanders fight.

You can pick apart some of Wlad's faults based on his wins, the fight against Chambers, the fight against Haye. Even though he won, there were numerous small areas you could exploit.
Just like you can pick apart some of Lennox's faults by watching his fights against Grant-Golota-Tua-Holyfield I-Briggs etc.
Now if you do that you have yourself a case.
What you can't do is come to logical conclusions by using the two fluke losses (only one of which was legit) as a means of measuring how well Lewis will hold up in a h2h.

Good post though, even though I disagree with you.

Lewis was prone to laziness and ideas of self gran dour.

Best versions of Lewis vs Marciano would be a mismatch though, because of the size factor alone. If Lewis came into the Marciano fight all lazy and out of shape, he will get badly brutalized. That I agree.
