Pretty much thats why Hopkins had to wait til Jones got shot to fight him ..60/40 was too high of a risk

He was like Tyson, won fights before even stepping into the ring. Then guys like Tarver came along just like Holyfield did, and they weren't intimidated. People just use the excuse that RJJ was getting old.

He didn't lose in 15 yrs to fighters better than Tarver prior and never looked the same since his first fight with Tarver ..It was no excuse it was father time ..

his reflexes in his prime were that good, that he barely got touch one time in a fight. dude barely never lost a round over a decade, now thats dominant.

    great fighter no doubt.

he had the opposition to crack the top tens tho, had he beaten jackson/mcclellan, liles/benn, dariusz m. he'd jump a few places mos def.

had he careered at hw he'd break top 5 lists (beat holyfield, byrd, tyson, final hurrah vs lewis)

he had the talent too beat those guys, although he would have had a tough time vs mcclellan. still I favor over them all. at heavyweight it would have been unfair, too say he should have beat tyson and holyfield too be mentioned as a p4p all time top 5.

he just should have fought all the top guys in and around his division when he and his opponents were in top shape.

on and on, he had so many choices who were better for his legacy than derrick harmon or clinton "who" woods...

had he chosen this path and beat 90 % of them he would have entered easily the top 10 of the greatest boxer, had he beat all of them, along with his natural athletic gift he maybe would have been considered the greatest ever.

did you know juan carlos gomez was undefeated, very tall, strong and for a cruiserweight very athletic and fast. he was ranked 1 cruiserweight for long time, beating anybody and is even in all time ranking considered being on of the best cruiser's ever, some even have him at 1.

jhonny nelson in his best days was a tough cuiser also.

as far as maske, he may have been boring too watch, but he was effictive and a bigger name, than much of other opponents jones fought at that time.

even all those 3 boxer (except for jcg) were no big time names like X, tito, hoya, they certainly had good quality and for boxing experts, they would have appreciated jones fighting them.

There were plenty of people who Jones should have fought the man cemented his legacy long before some of these guys were thoughts in their own divisions . He may have not fought all the guys you mentioned but was it always his fault some of those guys didn't want to dance ??

If you look at the guys you mentioned Jones resume is actually better than all mentioned.

With the exception of Tito he dominated his opponents in a manner none of he above mentioned could even come close to yet they define his resume :huh I never understood that logic .

I never said it was his fault. sure, for an fight not happening always 4 parties have too say yes, the 2 fighters and both promoters.
