    That was an AMAZING performance.

But of course there can only be one answer if you're talking about the last 30 years.

ROBERTO DURAN v SUGAR RAY LEONARD 1.

    Whittaker vs Chavez
    Whittaker vs Nelson
    De La Hoya vs Trinidad
    Hopkins vs Trinidad
    Wright vs Mosley 1
Leonard vs Hagler (i thought Hagler won but it was amzing what Leonard did in that fight from having the long lay off and fighting above his natural weight)

I suppose it depends on what is meant by an all time great performance. Barrera v Morales 1 had two great performance from two atgs which meant that the fight was an atg. Also Duran v Leonard belongs in this category.

Then there's the atg performances where one of the fighters performs so well that he pretty much annihilates another great fighter. ie Hopkins v Tito, Mayweather v Corrales, Jones v Toney, even Calzaghe v Lacey to an extent. There's lots of examples.

Also I agree with the Leonard pick above. I scored it for Hagler but it was very impressive how close Leonard made it. I actually think that if Hagler had been given the sd then Leonard would have won over more fans with his performance. Weird the way that works.

If I was to nominate one it would have to be Duran v Leonard. Unbelievable performance.

ali - frazier in the thrilla in manilla, i dont even think u need to pick a specific fighter there. It just capped off 2 great careers where they should've both retired there

Very true, thats why I choose Chavez-Rosario, he expertly broke down a very good champion with possibly the most impressive piece of technical pressure fighting Ive ever seen... his punch stats were over 60% at the end of the fight & he looked fresh as a daisy too..... those other fights were too close because the other guy put in an incredible shift himself.
Chavez just plain got the job done.
(please dont bombard me with info about how Rosario wasnt in SRLs class because I do know that, Im just saying, I went for a performance were the performer ****ed the other guy up :good)

George Foreman scoring a collosal upset at the age of 45 over a prime Moorer deserves some mention I think..

I'd nominate that for "best win" not "performance".

For me, Duran's performance that night was THE perfect example of an ATG performance by an ATG fighter, so it is the perfect answer to this question, irrespective of the state of the other guy at the end.

However, Chavez-Rosario is 100% a great pick IMO. One of my all-time favourite performances, a flawless destruction of a very very good champion.
