I thought the same thing... it's probably before he got his nose completely smashed... This content is protected
Jose Luis Ramirez Lupe Pintor Nigel Benn Jorge Paez Don Curry Alfredo Escalera Bobby Chacon All good fighters with impressive title reigns, But just didn't have that big victory to push them over the top.
Yes he had many, If he had just beaten Ruben Olivares or Alexis Arguello his position would be solidified, as an ATG.
Tim Witherspoon is a worthy mention. He was a two time heavyweight titlist, and a long time contender for years after. Some names whom he beat: 1. Tony Tubbs 2. Greg Page 3. Renaldo Snipes 4. James Tillis 5. James Broad 6. Frank Bruno 7. James Smith 8. Jose Ribalta 9. Carl Williams 10.Mike Williams 11. Alonzo Ratliff 12. Alfred Cole
I don't think Witherspoon was robbed against Holmes. It was a very close fight no doubt, but Larry deserved the nod. Spoon's fight with Ray Mercer years later, was definately a robbery though. He should have gotten the win.
Yep, That was a close one. Didn't Holmes have a knockout streak in title defenses, that was stopped by Witherspoon going the distance? No sure, It's been awhile.
How about Jimmy Young? Ron Lyle (2x) A Draw with Shaver's (Clear cut robbery) Geroge Foreman Many feel he beat Norton and Ali as well. Plenty of other good names as well. Jois Luis Garcia, who knocked out Ken Norton, ultra hard hitting Jeff Sims...
How about everyone's favorite hot and cold UK fighter, Carl Thompson? David Haye Chris Eubank (2x) Sebastiaan Rothmann (Come from behind one punch KO) Ralf Rocchigiani A chunk of those coming at the very end of his career. Not too bad at all.
I was just about to say something along the lines of 'Suzie will say Marshall'! Beat me to it! His WINS resume is outstanding.
Oscar Larios has a great resume. Israel Vazquez Wayne McCullough (2x) Nepapol Kiatisakchokhoi Willie Jorrin (First Round Stoppage)
