None of the top 25 HWs on BoxRec have a fight scheduled

Same as every other division. Not a lot happens in boxing around this time of year

 

At least we've got Trevor Bryan defending his poundland belt against a guy ranked 200 places below Dave Allen (according to boxrec).

Are you joking? Primo was a conman who couldn't box, he was an awful fighter and watching him for two seconds shows he'd be obliterated by anybody in the top 200. Career of fake fights and getting KOd when he fought anybody forreal. If Primo's fights weren't fixed, that shows way, way more that boxers in the 1930s were awful by modern standards, because they were being KOd by a 6'6 guy who could barely box/

 

They don't want to fight each other. It is an affectation of the era...because there are multiple titles to choose from, and four divisions handing out #1 rankings, they can lay back and fight the lowest possible competition while waiting on a shot.

I will always be a fan of the sport, but I spend vastly more time talking about it than watching it these days.

 

Well now Otto Wallin is fighting on Saturday we now have 1 fighter in the top 25 with a fight scheduled.

The HW division is buzzing again. We really should be grateful.

 

The first trimester is often quite quiet in boxing.

There will probably be quite a lot of fighting in April-May-June.

 

The way boxing is set up right now rewards you for fighting less.

The more you fight, the more chance you've got to ruin the media narrative, and the less money you earn.

Why bother to step up and try to make double what you're making but possibly ruin your future prospects when you can live an easier life and try to stay relevant long enough to be there when a big fight comes up

 

Actually i'm not going to count Wallin's effort on Saturday. He turned up fat and disinterested.

So looks like the only top 25 fight we'll have in the first quarter of the year is Prince Chuckles v the oldest man in Cuba.

I've seen more fighting action in my local. And it's an old mans pub where dominoes is the main form of excitement.
