Kingpetch got the benefit of the doubt on homeground in a controversial decision against Harada.Hardly a way to become someone's daddy after you've been horribly caved in the first time around, good comeback effort though it may have been.

btw i wouldn't rate Norton better than many of the best fighters Harada fought.He was a spoiler with less skills than most and less offensive force than half.

And let's be honest. Even Stevie Wonder could see Harada beat Fammo, even going on a rounds scoring basis IMO. Looking at the fight and discounting the result Harada would go up in your estimation. There he is, beating up the 3rd divisional champion he has faced. 60 fights or so into his career (about the time Duran had stepped up for his 2nd World title funnily enough) and that is the kind of achievement that sees me have this amour if respect for Harada.

That he did it with his style is unreal. He didn't hide against bigger guys he took it to 'em as he did the smaller ones.

Harada was a big flyweight by the way let's not forget, he had a big set of thighs on him. But Gingpet (the actual phonetic rendering that I'm trying to ram down people's throats) was a lanky fly that was talking of a move to bantam before the first Harada fight IIRC. Not exactly undersized, and Harada chewed him up anyway.

An unfocused Harada and a Pone encouraged by King Bhumibol himself couldn't make it any harder to see; Harada was the superior man of the two.

 

Oh, yeah it was on home turf as well.

 

to play a bit of a peacekeeper here, harada is very easy to underappreciate until you watch him and ask the right questions. when i first started following boxing and glanced at his record, i underrated him as a fat midget who was in too many tough, close fights who beat an aging jofre. you really have to WATCH harada and analyze him (and pay close attention and listen to experts on the forum) to form an opinion of not only the man himself, but the ridiculously stacked era and weights in which he fought.

 

And he was only 19!

 

Yeah, it's mainly the era in which he did what he did that makes it so impressive, nice point Nightcrawler.

Watching Harada will blow you away even if your trying desperately hard not to be impressed.

I'd recommend the first Jofre fight if you get the chance. I thought he looked particularly good in that. You'll enjoy it, great fight!

guys like flea, mcgrain, janitor, red, al, the list goes on and on. this forum is probably the greatest source of boxing knowledge on the planet and i truly mean that.

BUT as you said, you have to verify it. read all the articles, watch watch watch all the fights (even the **** ones) and enjoy!

I joke but Harada is ****ing fantastic. Watch the first Kingpetch fight first both because its chronological and its his most complete ass kicking on film. Although both Jofre fights are very good (1 more than 2).
