IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. has just been released by promoter Gary Shaw, effectively making him a free agent who can now negotiate for big fights through his manager Cameron Dunkin.

The champion's father and trainer, Nonito Sr, also informed that the boxing champion is currently sparring with his brother Glenn in San Leandro, California. Glenn Donaire is vying for the IBF light flyweight crown against Ulises Solis on July 12.

"They sparred 6 rounds yesterday," said Donaire Sr, who is currently in Reno, Nevada to attend to his Mongolian prospect Bak Choluun (full name Bakhuu Otgoncholuun) who will face Mexican Omar Valencia today.

The Arthro Kontra Arthritis-sponsored Nonito Donaire Jr had earlier expressed interest in facing the other flyweight world champions, or any of the big names in the superflyweight division like Fernando Montiel, Cristian Mijares and even his former victim Vic Darchinyan.

AND WHAT THE **** WOULD HE LEARN SPARRING WITH GLENN? Let him spar with the heavier or technically great Boxers. Unfortunately glenn ain't one of the above. And good for him to get out of shaw, that guy is messing up nonito's career. I wish top rank would take notice of nonito and give him a chance to fight other world titlist for unification. No filipino boxer, from our roster of 44 boxers since villa up to nietes, has ever unified world titles. Nonito has the chance to be the first one. If he does it, he might be next to pac in terms of boxing recognition here in our country. This is the first step. NONITO DON'T FUMBLE YOUR WAY TO GREATNESS BY SPARRING WITH GLENN PLEASE!!!!

I think the sparring was to get in shape. He would spar with someone else in the future. Don't read too much into it man.

Saw it coming for a long time, Donaire wants big fights but Shaw isnt giving him any and now Donaire is inactive as can be.

I hope he signs with Top Rank.

Oh and Glenn is going to get his ass whooped, I hate to say it my Pinoy brothers but Ulises Solis is a filipino destroyer.

This is great news for Donaire. Shaw was holding him up, now Nonito can finally be active.

Nonito is too young to be this inactive. If a seperation from Shaw brings more activity from Donaire then great.

This would be a good opportunity for Golden Boy to get a legit young star into their stable.

I hope he signs with Top Rank too.
His manager Cameron Duncan has a good relationship with Bob Arum, & Top Rank do have Montiel & Arce in the Super Flyweight division, plus a couple young prospects, so there would be no issues getting fights & TV dates.
    Unlike crappy Gary Shaw.
