LOL After beating Montiel all of the sudden everyone want to claim Donaire. No one really gave a **** about him before that fight
Why dont we let nonito answer the question himself The thing is Im blessed to be called the next guy, said Donaire. And Im blessed that I have fans and people who pray for me and wish me the best. But what it comes down is that since I was little, Ive always been proud to wear the Filipino flag. And thats who I am, a Filipino fighter, and Im going to give it all I got, regardless of what happens. Im proud of who I am and Im trying to reach the pinnacle of my talent that God has given me.
Citizenship laws differ by country. Half the nations in the world say you take the citizenship of your birthplace (USA). The other nations state you take the citizenship of your parents (Philippines). Examples below: This content is protected Nonito Donaire Jr.- born in the Philippines to Filipino parents. Because his parents were Filipino citizens when Nonito was born, Nonito is a Filipino citizen. He has since moved to the USA and became a naturalized American citizen. But by Filipino laws, Nonito can still claim Filipino citizenship. This content is protected Tim Tebow- Born in Mindanao, Philippines (like Pacquiao) to American missionary parents. Because Tim's parents were not Filipino citizens at the time of his birth, Tim is not a Filipino citizen according to Philippine laws. When Tim was brought to the United States, he was considered a Filipino citizen and most likely had to become a naturalized citizen. This content is protected Jimmy Alapag- pro basketball player. Born in Los Angeles, California to Filipino citizen parents. By U.S. laws, Jimmy is an American citizen because he was born in the United States. By Philippine laws, he is also a Filipino citizen because he was born to Filipino citizen parents.

Jimmy Alapag- pro basketball player. Born in Los Angeles, California to Filipino citizen parents. By U.S. laws, Jimmy is an American citizen because he was born in the United States. Nonito is Filipino, went to America because of his parents, learned boxing because of his Filipino dad, and is representing the Philippines when he fights. He comes to the Philippines to celebrate his win with his family and relatives, then goes back to the US to train. Rodman's dad lives in the Philippines, doesnt make him a Filipino. On paper though he is for living there for more than a decade.
