He is Filipino-American but leans more to the filipino side and wants their appreciation. I think JC CHAVEZ is to Mexicans like Pacquiao is to Pilipinos. And Oscar is to Mexicans to Nonito is to Pinoys.. yeah or nay?
NO. Donaire was actually born in the Philippines, and lived there for 10 years? if thats correct he's full Pinoy, he knows how life is in the Philippines. Oscar never lived in Mexico and he was born in the U.S. he is Gringo-Mexican
That's the conclusion I had from reading the posts of his joyboy fans along with the pacfags that wanted to disown him and hand him over to the black boxing community.
Mother ****er am I Irish, Italian, English, or German? No I'm not and therefore I am living here in the USA.
That's ****ing stupid. But I don't know any of the Pinoy posters on this site who have outright said they don't like him because of how he fights. I could have missed it though if all that took place before he cracked Montiel into next goddamn week. I can appreciate Filipino fighters regardless of their style if they can use what they have or if they have that warrior spirit that you can only put out with a .45 caliber round.
I mean, yeah. Back in the homeland there's alot of talented once. But they lack money most can't even afford shoes.I played BALL over there now in Aus i would be dominating the hard wood with my speed. But back there I was left for dust those kids not much younger than me in their 20's were tall quick as hell ( well being a smoker might have something to do with my dimishing atheleticism). They had a dance contest and these lil fockers were doing flips and high aerobatics and they are young like 15 and younger. And of course the pure brown chics were stunning I have never seen so many hot Chikas like that here in Oz. Now, back to the subject.Donaire is born in Talibon Bohol.I have family in Tagbilaran and Ubay BOHOL, Moved to Gensan ( General Santos) Mindanao.I was born in Mindanao the southern most Island too I moved to Oz around the same time runito did. I would say, having experienced life in Philippines in the 80's you won't forget it. It is part of you. So, on paper he is a citizen of America but he is Filipino because of the past life, in the 80's.I bet he has seen Guera or WAR with Machine GUNS and ****.Phils has changed, it is westernize it has malls, and improving roads networks it was developed since I left. But you will still see the old life when you go past the farms.
You ****ing multi generational american's have no idea what it means to feel a **** load of ethic pride in your previous ethnicity because you're all a bunch of mixed mutts anyways. Guys like Donaire who are 1 generation removed from their culture, cling onto their roots and feel A LOT OF PRIDE in fighting for his ethnic roots. You ask any 1st generation American and they will tell you they relate more to their ethnicity moreso than America. I relate to PR millions of times more than I relate to Americans. Its not that I am ungrateful to be an American citizen, but my heart is with Puerto Rico 100%. If the economy was fantastic on the island I'd be there without thinking twice. Don't **** with Donaire saying that hes "using pinoys" to build a fan base. Thats the BIGGEST load of **** I have ever heard of. He spoke in english and he spoke in his ethnic language after the fight did he not? Okay so stfu about Donaire "using the filipino people" Bunch of ****ing morons on this forum. The fact that people till this day come from other countries to the USA will constantly create this dynamic. There will always be 1st and 2nd generation american citizens clinging onto their ethnicity because thats how culture works. But you can't blame them for trying to take advantage of the democracy/freedom/opportunity that is available in this country. And you can't blame them for wanting to hold on to their ethnicity either because its not American traditions that bring people to this country, its ****ing $ and thats it. Now you don't see me repping ****ing Spain because my great grandparents were from Spain do you? Simply because I'm many generations detached from that ****. But its not the case with PR. People have to understand that blood is thicker than the mere fact of living in a ****ing society and country. I could move to England and live in that country for the rest of my life and I'll never call myself English. If every country had the same opportunities that are available in the USA than we wouldn't be seeing the influx of immigrants that we see in this country would we? Donaire is here because this is the main sports outlet of the entire world. So for all you arrogant ass hole American's who want to override a persons ethnic pride with their citizenship listen to the reality: Donaire uses his Filipino pride to bust his ass in that ring and hes uses America for his financial gain $$$ If I offended 99% of you people, good. Now untangle your panties.
So the kids in the phillipines are real athletic? Most asian kids I met haven't been very athletic. Not everyone is like you. I know 1st or 2nd gen ethnic people that identify with America more.
@ Leon I love what this country provides. I am eternally grateful to be an American citizen. Its a blessing and I would not leave this country because its good here. But these things have NOTHING to do with my pride. Theres just way too many things that factor into it, especially being puerto rican. You ask any 1st generation Latino from any south or central american country, they can't let go of their ethnicity (1 or 2 generations removed even). 3 generations +, then its completely acceptable and understandable that you would relate yourself to whichever different country you live in and call yourself "_________." But when I hear American's try to squash a 1st generation American's ethnic pride just because hes an citizen now its bull****. Its like telling Oscar and Vargas that they're American and they should have never came into the ring with Mexican flags. All I ask for with this topic is that you multigenerational American's RESPECT 1st and even 2nd generation American's ethnicity. That is all. Donaire doesn't "use" his filipino people. He fights FOR the filipino people. Thats how it works.
