You don't have to dude. Boxing politics is the fantasy fight killer. There's more than enough evidence of promoters (namely Arum and perhaps to an extent Shaw and GBP) doing whatever they want to ensure a maximum bottom line for themselves. Darchinyan wanted the rematch. Shaw did not. Shaw put Darchinyan on just about any Showtime event he could while Donaire was stuck in neutral waiting for Arum to do something with him. The fight should've happened after Darchinyan-Arce but as boxing politics go, so do the sport.
To me, that just means Darchinyan didn't want the fight bad enough. He was ok to let his promoter control things. Other fighters got the fights they wanted. Keith
I disagree. For every fight where somebody forced the issue, there are 10 fights where the fighter in question didn't get their preferred fight.
All I can say if Nonito Donaire doesnt face The Raging Bull, he will be known as This content is protected from that day forward !!!!
In the end, you can makes excuses for it, but its Vic's legacy that takes a hit. The fact is Vics camp hasn't wanted a rematch. That means Vic didn't want a rematch. If he doesn't get one, that' what he'll have to live with. I would view it different if they threw viable offers out there and were getting turned down. But two minutes after the fight, they were saying they don't want anymore of Donaire. Keith
That's also how they called another Filipino that's on top of my head...hmm, someboby help me out here... :think
I really dont think you have been following the situation at all keith and are basing your opinion on unfounded assumptions. After Mthlane fight Arum straight up shot down the Darchinyan rematch because he wanted Donaire to fight a mexican. After the Martinez fight both guys said Darchinyan wasnt on their radar because as Arum put it, "Darchinyan cant draw flies to a dump". He wanted to again put Nonito in with Puerto Ricans and Mexicans because he felt it was more marketable. In an interview before the Concepion fight Nonito was asked whether Darchinyan was on his radar..He said something along the lines of I will go where Top Rank want me and I dont know anything about fighting Darchinyan again. After the fight he called out Montiel and Arce. There you see a pattern from Arum of clearly trying to steer Donaire away from Darchinyan pretty much because he doesnt promote him and would not make as much money off the fight.
Dunno what rock you came from mi paisano, still not knowing there's only one. :nut (...and that one happens to leave a wake of destruction on its path, especially from the land below the border--earning him a rather disrespectful nom de guerre from the Am press...) :|:yep
