At BW this is a really good match. Pintor has obviously performed better against better, but his style plays into both Donaire's hands, and his size disadvantages. Donaire at BW would be massive compared to Lupe, day before weigh ins and what not. Lupe had a wicked chin though, and a very high workrate, as well as being awesome at fighting off the ropes. Donaire would struggle leading against Lupe, and probably would have to settle for a decision if he was to win. Donaire, whilst definitely past it, had an issue with Inoue's movement, which is on a similar level to 50/50, I'm taking Pintor, he could take Gomez and Zarate's power for 12, so I reckon he'd beat Donaire on points.
The second greatest left hook to the body in boxing leaves Donaire wishing he was fighting Rigo again.
I'd also say Pintor is more skilled, and only loses out in some physicality. He had that Cuyo Hernandez box of tricks.
I personally feel Pintor starts grinding him down starting around the 8th after Donaire gets off to a faster start. The methodical approach of Pintor just starts getting to him. Over 15 he probably gets a TKO over 12 a tight points UD. I like both of these guys. Two class acts who know there craft.
I rate Donaire’s career higher but he sort of run out of ideas in fights he couldn’t win by KO and Pintor was tough as nails and skilled. I’d take Pintor to edge it down the stretch.
