it was a very close fight. lots of those rounds could have been even. I don't think Donaire got exposed. i think Rigondeaux's change of direction and Donaire was not able to land as many big shots. anyone know what the punch stats were?

The punch that hurt Donaire's eye was huge, Donaire didn't have a chance to win the round. if he won that last round it would have been a split decision. What Donaire did in the 10th round was impressive though. He came out firing on all cylinders and really got to Rigondeaux and knocked him down. If he did that in the 11th also he might have won. Good fight. Didn't get to see Donaire's post fight interview. hopefully it gets posted to youtube or something.

No u. Im all for intense chess matches but there were rounds where the punch output seemed in the single digits. I think Rigo respected Donaires power too much, he could have ended the contest earlier with the skillset mismatch. Not taking anything from the win though, beating the top dude in his 12th bout is quite an accomplishment.

Normally I would say, slow down mate. He got one great victory under his belt now let him get a nice solid body of work on his resume.

But then I see Broner is already p4p top 5 and he ain't thought anyone worth a damn to be on that list based on resume. So what the hell, he can crack top 10.:bbb

Rigondeaux has pretty nice handspeed. However 2 things. 1) He's not getting any better. 2) Someone that fights inside with decent power beats him. Bradley has the perfect style to beat Rigondeaux. I knew if Donaire stayed close he would clock him and he dif, unfortunately he did it very little. You can see Rigo is susceptible to punches from very close distances. Btw i said style, not power and yes Bradly and Rigo are never fighting. Talking strictly styles.

He got a chin like Marquez. Eats solid shots all the time, will still go down and recuperate quickly. Rigondeaux never has bambi legs for long stretches

So you think someone scoring it 7-5 in favour of rigo is indicative of a fix being in for Nonito?

You do see the flawed logic there surely?

I was rooting for Rigo because of his boxing IQ and slickness, but I totally underestimated the sting in his punches. Very sharp stiff punches. My only critique is I wish he would have let it go a little more in the middle rounds. Not because I thought it was boring but I felt he could have finished Donaire.

    1. Euh ok so?

    2. Bradley has the style to beat anyone.

If Donaire stayed close? Like he didn't try?

I'm hearing all over again the "If De La Hoya didn't stop jabbing" :tired

none taken man. tim bradley at ringside had it a 1 point win for Rigondeaux, the Colonel had it a 1 point win for Donaire. what were the punch stats? i do think RIgondeaux won, i thought many rounds were close and hard to score. I think Rigondeaux did out box Donaire, but Donaire did have the knockdown and the most dominant round in the fight (the 10th) besides the 12th. Hence the close fight.
