I thought it was closer than a lot of people but Rigo got it, If you're the one counter punching you gotta be landing clean punches, A few rounds he was being too inactive. That's a small criticism of a great performance for me. If he engaged more he could have taken him out. I think a rematch would be interesting with Donaire being more aggressive from the start. Most likely he would get taken out though, Whenever he was stepping in it looked ominous. Donaire is quality no doubt feel like people are being harsh on the man.

Rigo is 100% slick, He's one cold blooded Cuban.

What happened tonight is that a fighter who has been in the top 5 for several years now got thoroughly, thoroughly schooled. Donaire looked like a rookie in there against Rigo. Any rounds he won were more because of what Rigo wasn't doing instead of what Donaire was doing. Rigo controlled the entire fight. The knockdown was the equivalent of a player hitting a shot from the other side of the court in a game his team lost by 20 points.

Scorescards were a joke. Rigo dominated this fight and gave Donaire a boxing lesson.

Still stick by that. He went for it at the end but he was hesitant for most of the fight. Rigo had enough power to hurt him and he knew it.

Yeah you do have a point there. Nonito was trying to bait and counter with one shot, against a much faster opponent. After round three or four it should have been clear who had the faster hands and reflexes, and should have went to plan B.

Rigondeaux did win, but did himself no favors in the victory.

He deserves major props but I'm just saying I'm not wowed by what he showed tonight. Consistent and disciplined but not spectacular.

I totally agree. couldn't have said it better myself. Nonito was trying to walk him down and come forward. Rigondeaux was on his backfoot most of the fight and was holding a lot. in general, people usually prefer the aggressor as opposed to the counter puncher. the fans were booing because Rigondeaux wasn't engaging. many rounds Rigondeaux was making Donaire miss, but wasn't active enough to really win the rounds convincingly. you could probably score about half the rounds even, and 4 rounds to Rigondeaux and 2 to Donaire. (or something like that)

The most impressive...well one of the most impressive things Rigo did was reduce Nonito's output to nothing, just absolutely amazing performance.

Exactly. What's plan B? Get close, smother him. Land shots from the inside. I really think that's Rigondeaux's weakness.

It is spectacular making someone as highly regarded as donaire miss so many shots. Donaire had great speed and timing so to make him so ineffective is awesome.

This is one of the best performances against two elite opponents in the last 10 year imo.
