Nonito Donaire vs. Nicholas Walters on the Oct 18th card at the StubHub center (same card as GGG v Rubio)

    Interesting fight. Who you got?

Donaire continues to look more ordinary but I think he beats Walters

Yep. I year ago I would've confidently picked Donaire but after watching his fights with Darchinyan and Vetyka he seems to have lost his hunger for the sport.

I'm still picking Donaire, but agreed. He's looked very ordinary as of late.

I got donaire to win a decision but walters has a puncher's chance.can walters take donaire's best shot we know donaire's chin is pretty good.walters is dangerous though this and ggg vs rubio two action packed fights Im pumped for this.

I'm edging toward that. Both these guys are big punchers but I think Donaire has the slight edge in punch resistance and that will be the telling factor.

    Generational baton pass. Noble tradition.

(when they're like this one - not so much when the older guy is completely shot to bits and getting massacred for his name value like a poor baby seal clubbed for its fur coat :verysad)

Donaire always fights one of the best couple options available. Hasn't gotten nearly enough credit for that his entire career.

This should be an epic fight.

Obviously Donaire is on the down slide, but I think perhaps just enough to get people to give Walters a bigger chance than he has. Certainly a victory by Walters would not surprise me but it seems that a solid third or so at least would be picking Walters based on the discussion around this fight ever since they shared the Macau card a couple months back. It looked like Donaire hit the weight cap at 122, so anything above for the former Flyweight champ is going to be very difficult. Especially Walters, who is prime and looking like a fresh puncher.

don't be so sure about that donaire still has a lot left in the tank though he hasn't looked great recently he still wins except for rigo but that's not a knock on donaire.

donaire has more than a slight edge in punch resistance walters chin hasn't been tested yet against a puncher like donaire.donaire has a very solid chin.

donaire will eventually time that pawing and sometimes lazy jab by walters....donaire by ko.

Between his decline and Walters looking the goods (I was skeptical at first when he knocked out Breidis Prescott's brother and randomly became a titlist from outta nowhere...same as I was skeptical of Thurman after hearing so much hype and seeing him for the first time in an underwhelming display with Orlando Lora...but they have both started winning me over and proving themselves legit forces to be reckoned with as they continue taking undeniable steps up and kicking ass...) - and hell, just the sheer difference in size, along with their respective placement on the career parabola - has me thinking we are going to see a flash-bang...with Flash getting banged out.

In his last 3 fights, he has still found the timing somewhere to drop his opponents even if he has looked out of character the rest of the fights.

At select moments, yes, but not consistently - and Walters is going to be on him from pretty early. Donaire may not get the chance to find his rhythm if he doesn't walk into the ring with it. His defense has eroded in recent years even worse than his timing.
