Anyways looking at this bout i see Donaire winning within the distance i just don't see Navarez outboxing Donaire for 12 rounds. Donaire did fight southpaw when he fought Marquez for 5 rounds as a southpaw and he looked nothing special and in round 5 he switched to orthodox and within a minute hurts Marquez and makes the fight his own.

Nonito i believe maybe a fighter that tries to hard for perfection and turns a slight inperfection into something major. He said he found sparring against southpaws as a southpaw himself a lot easier to defend as he saw the punches more openly but Nonito has such a beautiful check hook from his orthodox position and seems a lot more comfortable in that position.

I feel early on he will take his time get centre ring and pick openings with the jab and and may struggle to land such specatcalar counters as he has in past. On Saturday night he will have to punch to create such openings. Navarez problem is fact when fighters lead off he pulls full guard and i just see Donaire leading off and throwing fast combinations without fear of punishment and then making Navarez fall short when he panic's and countering.

TBH i think this is a look good and stay busy job i think this will be over within 5 if Nonito wants it to be.

The best thing Donaire can do to benefit Narvaez is occupy centre ring. That's where Omar's going to have a modicum of success(by which I mean he'll frustrate Donaire), if he can stick to the outside and consistently circle around him, keep Donaire perpetually turning and take advantage of the fact that Donaire often becomes jab-neglectant and relies on leading with his right hand and looking for inch-perfect left hooks, then Nonito's going to have some aggrivating moments in there.

Trying to hit Narvaez can be like looking for a shadow in a pitch black room, his defense is very versatile, his head movement is there for more than simply looking stylish, added to his blocking and adept footwork it's what makes him a difficult stylistic proposition for anyone, even if - like Saturday night - he can't get enough going offensively to win.

There will be a lot of periods where Donaire won't get much going in my opinion. Narvaez pops off counters from awkward angles but I can't envisage many of them landing due to the fact he'll be under a sustained barrage from long range for a large proportion of the bout, so he'll be restricted to staying on the end of Nonito's combinations and trying to prevent anything from penetrating his defense.

If Donaire can force Narvaez into attempting to seize the initiative, then he's wiping the Argentine out in a matter of minutes. But I'm not sure El Huracan will be that receptive.

EDIT: I'm always puzzled by Donaire fighting as a port-sider. He kind of reminds me of Tomas Rojas a bit when he switches stances, not in terms of his style, or his fighting stance, more the fact that he's only good offensively when he's focused solely on it, and only good defensively when he's only focused on that. There's no in between, he can't really do both at once, otherwise he just looks poor. I think it was just a passing fad really, something he was trying out, because he now looks sensational that he seems to have ditched it(in-ring that is, I still see him doing it plenty in camp).

I haven't seen much of Omar Narvaez, so I appreciate the link in the OP. I'll be doing my best to squeeze in a couple of his fights before Saturday night. I've been meaning to long before the Donaire fight was announced, but just never got round to it. I do like the fact he's went up in weight to fight a consensus 'P4P top 5' fighter when he could have stayed in his own weight class. Obviously money comes into play too, but it's still admirable.

 You'd only like him to lose so nobody would talk about him beating your Korean and Thai mates anymore.

Narvaez and Mijares are the only two that I wouldn't mind him losing to. Though I still wouldn't be fully happy with it, seeing as how much I like/rate Donaire.

Still though, Narvaez in ALL p4p lists, fighter of the year, yielding win of the year, yeah, I can live with that. Where will my props be eh? I'd want the entire Brit forum to give me ****ing royalty if that happens.
