I think this fight could have a big Martinez-Barker feel to it. Narvaez has enough talent on the back foot to be able to evade Nonitos bombs for a good period, Donaire is at his best when his opponent is coming at him and we know Narvaez won't be doing that however you just can't look past Nonito landing something big eventually and taking the smaller man out.

Could be a really good fight for however long it lasts though.

Apparently Donaire was 4-6 pounds over last night.

6lbs in a day is literally nothing. He'll be fine.

I believe it was the Sydorenko fight where I just felt Donaire had moved up another level (speed, timing, power punching). If one hadn't seen Sydorenko fight before one would have have thought he is literally a bum, because that is how Donaire treated him. But that would be really unfair on Sydorenko because he is actually a pretty decent fighter.

Narvaez isn't bad but I expect Donaire to stop him. I have bet on the under so hopefully Donaire gets the stoppage a few rounds before that to keep me from getting frustrated.

Nonito is seriously gonna smash him. Then bring on Nishioka!!!!! Would be pumped for that

I honestly think Narvaez will be a more difficult proposition than Nishioka.

Spot on in that part I thought. I really rate Sydorenko so that beating he gave to him really made me sit up. However, it's also got to be said that Sydorenko was stylistically perfect for Nonito, though saying that my prediction was a late stoppage I believe, certainly not a 4th round blowout like it was.

Got to say with this one, I find it a pretty intriguing fight. I can't look past Donaire against anyone up to super-featherweight to be honest, that's how highly I rate him. The wins over Sydorenko (who as I say I consider a top contender) and especially vs Montiel and Vic, who were both at the time looking excellent, are as good as any. Also very good wins vs Mthalane and Martinez where he looked unbelievable and vs Marquez where he looked disinterested for half the fight but still got the stoppage so I have him p4p top 5 at the min.

But Narvaez has been underestimated by some people in the build up to this one I feel and I question how much the disparity in height will play a part in this one. Donaire is only an inch taller than Seda was and although they use their height advantages in different ways, I was impressed with how Omar overcame that barrier in that win.

I find it strange that so many people saw that as a close fight, in my mind it was a clear win to Narvaez. I had it 117-110- he was the one landing the cleaner shots with most of Seda's work being parried on the gloves. But I think the fight can be useful in looking at how Narvaez needs to go about it tonight. I like the way he used different angles and good head & movement to get inside Seda and then unleash to the body. He was able to negate the straighter punches which gave Seda success from range earlier in the fight and take the fight to a distance where he held the majority of advantages. His right hook was also good in this aspect; when he led off with it, it proved to be very accurate.

Narvaez is better at countering than leading off in my opinion which makes it tough for him vs Donaire. However, he was effective in using feights vs Seda to try and draw a counter from his opponent and move backwards to evade the pucnhes before letting his own go. From there, he can put punches together well to body and head and then get out of range again. It may be useful this vs Donaire, whose temperament can sometimes be questioned in my opinion. Frustrating him could be key in this fight so showing patience and trying to let Nonito force tne action may be a good way for Narvaez to go.

However, I just have a feeling it won't be enough. He doesn't seem to throw a massive amount of punches and his speed is dwarfed by his opponent. His high guard is excellent but if he depends on that too much and tries to pressure Donaire behind it, it could be his downfall IMO. We've all seen how good Nonito's uppercuts are and they could be pivotal again. But if he uses his good foootwork form the outside to try and get in range and counter I give him a decent chance. The problem being with that is that Donaire has excellent straighter punches to and can be effective to the body so it would be hard to actually move into a good position to counter from. A.l.a Klitschko-Haye.

So it's a daunting task for Narvaez and one he'll come struggle to overcome I feel but I've just got the impression he can take Donaire the whole 12 rounds. He's certainly a different proposition for Nonito than Sydorenko & Montiel so if he got him out of there, it would just increase my respect for him tbh.

I don't rate Martinez all that much. Marquez was no one at that time as well, and coming off a loss (Nonito didn't want the fight IIRC) but he disposed of both of then well. The finish against Marquez was lush.

Martinez may not have been 1 of Donaire's greates opponents but he was pretty punch perfect in that fight. And I think Marquez's win over Concepción is a good indicator of his true quality but Donaire could do pretty much what he pleased in that fight and still get the win.

2 solid wins IMO which can back up his legacy behind the other big wins he's had

So Marquez is now a top 5 Fly. Nothing to write home about IMO.

Now if he'd smashed Wonjongkam (which Nonito would, piece of ****) I'd be more impressed ;-)

I think it's pretty clear that Pong would lose to Nonito at this stage. (Even with his win over Sosa the other day ).

Think he knows it too and I'd be shocked if he ever took the fight. Anyway after this fight, Nonito should be looking at SBW and beyond- he'd comfortably handle Nishioka IMO and I'd like his chances a lot vs Rigondeaux too. Arce would be a disastrous fight.

In fact if he does go up I'd like to see him vs either Rigo or Vasquez Jr. I like WV2 (no homo), he'd give him a dcent test IMO

Woah, woah, woah, you've misinterpreted my post mate :good

Nonito is given props for what Marquez has done after he beat him. All I'm saying is, he's done nothing special. I rate Concepcion as a puncher, difference being that he and Marquez are the same size, so indeed a good (but fairly inconclusive) win for Marquez, but not enough to suddenly make him any more than a decent win. (In my humble opinion, which means very, very little of course because most seem to think I'm shot away)

I'm just saying, I don't give Donaire too much credit for the Marquez win. My point was, if he'd beaten the no.1 Flyweight (I don't think Vic was when he beat him either) than it'd be incredible.

But he's hardly done a Harada so far. However, he looks to still be fresh, so has the time, talent and frame to do more for himself.
