I just timed myself on "Oleydong Kittipong Jaikajan Sithsamerchai". 1.75 seconds. (now, can anything under two full units still be singular? Or is more than one automatically plural?)
Wow IB, surprised that you're taking Vetyeka here. IMO too big of a stepup. Chris John isn't exactly Nonito Donaire. I watched the John fight and I was surprised at Vetyeka's resilience, he was very good at setting up punches with the left jab to the body (HE THROWS this shot a lot) (Probably took something from Floyd Mayweather's offensive arsenal), throwing crisp combinations (Double jab, right, and the 1-2), utilizing the left hooks, effectively ducking John's right hands. But imo he has a lot of defensive holes in his game, and from what I've seen in that fight his balance isn't very good and throws his right hand a little too wide for my liking. I think Nonaire will find him too many times in the fight. I don't see Vetyeka seeing the 8th in this fight. He's definitely shown his worth but imo too big of a stepup.
Watch the Yordan and Hasegawa performances, too. :good ...then check out Donaire vs. Darchinyan II again, plus the Rigondeaux schooling...really any Donaire performance since Montiel with the exception of Arce.
True story - I stumbled upon that old thread recently, listened to my .wav, chuckled, thought a moment, and said "****ING LURKER!"
:roflCrazy man, that must have been at least what? 5 years ago? Back when I had the time and enough brain cells left to do actual round by rounds with you and Arriba. When I was still a hardcore fan. Tell you what, lv lurker is soon to become dc lurker once again so if I'm ever up in your neck of the woods I'll buy you a brew.:good
Holy ****, I am ******ed. Your location has said "Las Vegas" this whole time, no? I always thought your full username was "Level Lurker". atsch ...as in you were some kind of online multiplayer gaming troll or something.
Yeah, it has. Couldn't think of anything else since the username SqueezyFlump was already taken. I tend to bounce around from coast to coast a bit but I'm from Vegas.
I'm yet to see Vetyeka's key performances in full, but I am impressed with what I have seen of him. He reminds me a small bit of Agbeko, though technically more refined, a much better jab, and judging of distance and timing. And talking of timing (segue alert), this fight couldn't come at a better time for Vetyeka. Donaire is past his best in my opinion. Hints have been dropped time and again in recent years - he has not matured into the higher weights whilst carrying his speed and power. Nonito has never been the best at pinning his man down either. He has always been more contented to throw flurries and rely on fast hands. I have a feeling Vetyeka might just out-fox him. Vetyeka with controversially close SD.
I'd be disgusted by the WBA if they allow this after refusing to let Shimoda fight Vetyeka. Anyway I favor the South African who is criminally underrated
Especially by those who make snap judgments based on less than five minutes of film! (or, even more lazily, Boxrec - which has to account for "Donaire by stoppage" being the leading option, still...)
Love to see this match up, doubt it gets made however. Donaire is still a big cash cow, after his last performance (Which was absolutely **** poor) I don't see why they'd take the risk against a guy who is obviously dangerous even to a casual boxrec browser.
