Still not quite official yet, but virtually sure to happen. It has been six days since Arum said he was looking to have the ink dried within a week's time, so expect the announcement shortly.
Fair enough. :good I'm cool with people backing Donaire, even confidently, and won't be too surprised if he beats Vetyeka, even by stoppage. What drives me nuts is people assuming it will be a walk in the park just because Donaire is a 'star' and Vetyeka is someone they have never heard of. That is such horrible logic and it unfortunately is how most 'fans' of the sport view match-ups. Then if Donaire is victorious, they'll just be all obnoxiously "See? The more famous guy won, that's how it works ".
Just here. Everyone has been telling me to start a blog for years now but I just can't be arsed. :yep
You should start one, this site is most likely trolls not enough people will read it If you made a blog all you gotta do is copy n paste it lol
"Heading in" As in, his run of fights up to Vetyeka. Starting with the John loss, and through his three-W streak of Archuleta, Villanueva, and Tseveenpurev. Yes, it was documented before he fought Veteyka that he was having trouble making feather anymore, but he was hardly some weight-drained zombie that night, at least to start out. You can't take credit away from Vetyeka for that performance with that excuse. Yordan looked strong enough at the beginning, doing some great body work in the 1st...and was effective even as late at the championship rounds. I thought, while down overall at that point, he rallied and won the eleventh and tenth, which made the surprise TKO in the last round all the more spectacular.
not attempting to take credit from vetyeka, of course vetyeka have shown really good skills, but yordan was also not in top form that night, probably his punch have significantly less power than it used to be and that rallying in the last two rounds, from what i remembered makes him completely gassed out in the last round
Assuming he beats McJoe Arroyo in his super flyweight debut next month on Solo Boxeo, former 108lb and 112lb titlist Brian Viloria will be co-featured on the May 10th card. With both Donaire and Viloria being Filipino-American boxing stars based on the US West Coast (Donaire in Cali, Viloria in Hawaii) and both having long-standing associations with Top Rank (Viloria for a decade running; Donaire since 2008) one might think it strange they have never yet been co-promoted on the same card. In fact, the news of them splitting a bill comes asstrange and even shocking to anyone who knows their history. They were amateur rivals (Viloria beat Donaire, and his brother Glenn, to earn an Olympics berth) and have been ****-talking each other in the media ever since they both turned pro. Their fan bases in both their adopted home of the US and native home of the Philippines are splintered with some pretty vehement feelings both ways. Maybe they buried the hatchet? :think Or their boss Mr. Arum got sick of mollycoddling them and insisted they put aside their differences and share the spotlight.
Knew Brian was fighting at the Texas Station next month but didn't know he was getting McJoe. This ought to be interesting. Big step up for Arroyo but Viloria's first at SuperFly if I'm not mistaken. I'm defaulting to my hometown boy Brian to hand McJoe his first L. I think just might take the long drive out and go watch this card. Was really hoping to squeeze a McDonald's joke in there somewhere but alas, my wit has dulled in my old age.
How do you think a fight between Viloria ( Marquez fight.) vs Donaire ( Darchinyan fight.) would go? I see Darchinyan at 118 and below being extremly hard to beat. Would also be interested on how you think Donaire matches up against the top fighters at 112 lbs today, Estrada, Gonzales and Ioka etc.
If Vet comes to exchange he will probably get KTFO. Even in the last Donaire Darchinyan fight, Nonito could not land anything. As soon as he knew a ko was required he came forward and started punching with a lot more intent. One of those caught Vic and from that point it was only a matter of when Vic would be stopped. Vic hasn't been KOed by anyone else I believe so you have to believe Donaire still has that X factor power. Although he didn't seem himself, that KO will bring him confidence lost against Rigo. If Donaire has his confidence back I would choose him against a guy willing to engage.
