After he loss to Donaire, Darchinyan has beaten Mijares, Arce, Guerrero and most people think he beat Mares. In his last two fights Darchinyan has looked impressive with wins over the Puerto Rican Luis Del Valle and the Mexican Javier Gallo.

Which makes Darchinyan a really tough matchup for anybody. His unorthodox style is really hard to train for.

You're listing fights from ages ago, and no, most people do not think he beat Mares. Del Valle and Gallo do not make for continued relevance either.

Yes but they are not exactly high level opposition and he looked complete ass in his Armenian homecoming against Mbamba.

Like, really, really really bad. Most of the way shot...as he continued to look in the consecutive one-sided losses to Moreno & Yamanaka.

LODV was a green prospect unready to step up even to a partially shot former champ. Gallo is a plucky kid but has lost every single time he stepped up to anyone world class, and even a few times on the Mexican domestic scene.

The last time he looked solid beating someone ranked and noteworthy was Yonnhy Perez, who is basically cooked to order and served on a platter for Darchinyan stylistically.

    Betting lines have come out.

Donaire pays eight cents on the dollar.

    Darchinyan is 6/1.

he was ripped off vs mares, who was the so called top dog, yes.

many, many people believed vic was the winner, and that's including getting hit by 63 low blows in the process. that ref should have been banned for life for ignoring those cheap shots, it was disgraceful.

Yeah the ref screwed Darchinyan in that one. Mares gets away with so many low blows, it's so laughable.

Well even if you don't think Darchinyan beat Mares, the fight was very close, hence the SD. Not to mention the fact that Mares got away so with many intentional low blows.

I had Mares by the skin of his teeth, 113-112 on my card - but if you throw in some very deserved point deductions...

That was Darchinyan's penultimate awesome performance. On that night and then against Perez a few months later he still looked really dangerous. Ever since the Mbamba stinker? Not so much, except when softly matched. (and even then it's clear he isn't half the peak Vic)

he could have been disqualified dozens of times in that fight.

there should have been a point deduction in every round, lol.

Mares was pretty ridiculous ...in rare form (even for him) that night.

Darchinyan is still an extremely dangerous fighter and it's going to take a big effort from Donaire to win.

Yeah I'm glad Mares got KTFO by Gonzalez. If you low blow your opponents and it's not called, you have a big advantage in the fight.
