Am I the only one wondering why is he so overrated and what the **** did he do besides be a Pinoy to be touted so highly
Hasn't lost since his second fight. Brutally KOed P4P ranked Darchinyan and Montiel. Just dominated and stopped the number 1 ranked fighter in his division. Multi weight champion.
Won legit titles at multiple weights, That on it's own deserves P4P recognition at least, **** the rankings, it's your decision who you see as P4P material.
This is why he is saying he is over rated. The rest of your post is actually correct, but P4P is a rating scale.
he is def good and i do give him alot of praise and credit.. but i just cant call him undisputed until he takes out rigo
Darchinyan and Montiel were rated top ten P4P before the Donaire fights. He beat them and looked impressive doing it top 5 might be to high but clearly top 10.
Montiel was top ten P4P by ring magazine before the Donaire fight and Darchinyan vs Donaire happened at 112 lbs it wasn't until he stepped up to 118 lbs that he started to lose. At 112 lbs he was undefeated.
Yep Darchinyan was so bad, he only lost to Donaire at 112 after 6 defenses, then unified three titles at 115 beating up borderline P4P Mijares (who back then held the similar place Moreno is lurking now), then eventually losing more in fights at 118, his third division. Sure, skillwise he isn't that great, but why can't anyone do anything against him? Okay, we'll give you the other one. Montiel is not pound for pound. But the guy has won titles in three division and unified the bantamweight title. What's next? Nishioka a bum? Hilarious people, just hilarious.
How can one be a top 5 P4p fighter but hasn't beat a P4P fighter in the top ten, let alone anybody being placed in the P4P category This content is protected
I have Donaire 6th, but that isn't the point I was trying to make. The poster I quoted was giving reasons why Donaire isn't overrated, stating his rank which is just someones opinion isn't a valid reason.
The ring is just as corrupt as many other organizations. Montiel's signature win was over a severely weight drained Hasegawa who moved up two weight classes after the Montiel fight. Any other time he was matched with top level talent he lost. He damn sure wasn't better than the guys in the bantam tourney in my opinion.
