Good score. What I should have had - damn mobile phone screen. I had it 6-4 going into the 11th. Last 2 had to go to Inoue.

Very impressed by both guys but especially with Nonito. A legend. He was able to hurt someone who was deemed invincible, pushed him back throughout the fight, and really had to make him work for this victory. He was able to survive Inoue’s attacks even after getting seriously hurt on occasion. He never stopped fighting back and trying to win. At almost 37 years old.

Also, massive props to Inoue. He was really tested but adapted and clearly won the fight. Donaire was able to land that monster left hook but Naoya was able to take it. He was hurt but he survived. He’s a machine in there. Great champion.

    Very great fight.

9-3 best for Inoue 8-4 loss donaire best possible outcome and the body shot should have been a stoppage. Disappointed in Inoues performance a little but I think the cut played a huge part in how he was fighting. Of course donaire being a warrior too.

He is certainly right up there, I think if he beats Tete at some point and maybe Nery then he has to be considered, he will have an argument.

At one point I thought his vision was totally screwed. It did look very bad at one point.

Yeah, but there's no such objective thing as "late". The count starts when the ref decides it starts. He isn't supposed to be like a computerized metronome. There's always been a built-in allowance for the ref's individual counting speed. I wouldn't even call it human error. In terms of the rules of boxing, that's a feature, not a bug. The ref wave it off without a count, or he can let someone up and have him do a minute long field sobriety test to determine if he's okay to continue if he wants. It's literally whatever the ref wants to do, goes.

Fighters can also "beat" the count and be waved off. So many fans misunderstand the purpose of a ten count. It's a guideline for the ref, but not a hard and fast thing. Ultimately the ref does whatever they feel like and stops the contest when they think is right.

I think we just underestimated how good Donaire still was.

That's one i learnt following real world champions. Never doubt them! Pacquiao and Donaire proved that to me time and time again.

FOTY without a doubt. All hail the WBSS after this and the Taylor v Prograis classic.

I had Donaire winning 4 rounds, but Inoue the clear winner.

    Both absolute warriors though.

Where does Inoue go from here? KO Tete and then move up?
