December 11th @ Dignity Health Sports Park, airing on Showtime. WBC bantamweight title on the line, 1st defense of Donaire.

The champion has an inch of height and ½" reach on his countryman, along with oodles more professional experience (two decades compared with seven years, with the bulk of that being very high-level). The challenger brings youth, momentum and power with a 24-0 (20) record.

For some reason the BoxRec event page doesn't list any undercard bouts as of now, but rest assured the chief televised support will consist of a battle of unbeatens, Uzbekistan's Qudratillo Xabibullo Ogli "The Punisher" Abduqaxorov vs. Canada's Cody "Crippler" Crowley at 147lbs and Brandun "The Silverback" Lee vs. Juan Guillermo "El Cajemé" Heráldez at 140lbs in the Showtime broadcast opener.

Gaballo has expressed utmost respect for Donaire, saying he grew up idolizing him and is game planning to be wary of that infamous check left hook - but, if not for the fighters themselves, perhaps for the fans in their respective home provinces (the wealthier Boholano for Donaire, a jus sanguinis dual citizen of the Philippines and U.S. and now a Las Vegas resident, with Nonito's birth town of Talibon a 1st class municipality and beach paradise thriving off tourism - and Cotabateño for Gaballo, born on the reasonably well-off "Pineapple Shore" but moving in childhood to GenSan [where Manny Pacquiao spent his own street urchin days] where he began his training punching bags of sand and had only 30 amateur bouts prior to his debut) there could be a sense of pride along socioeconomic and ethnolinguistic lines of stratification.

This stylistically a better match up for Gaballo than Rodriguez cause the rican was a mover. He changed his style, scared to get hit. I see Donaire getting clipped here as well caused of his willingness to trade and as the rounds go by his age will show and Gaballo can capitalize. TKO 9, Gaballo.

    Predictions...

Lee smokes glass jawed Heraldez in 4.
Crowley upsets the profoundly overrated Abduqaxorov via MD.
    Donaire sparks Gaballo in 5.

Actually, stylistically, his aggression is precisely why this is a terrible match up for him. Donaire is a natural counter puncher and feasts on aggressive fighters. Hence why he gave Inoue absolute hell, who thankfully is packing titanium in his mandible. Gaballo cannot stand up to that left hook of his, which he'll walk into repeatedly. Hell he walked into countless lefts from Manrod.

He is not a mover. Am i correct? He doesn't move circle the ring 3 minutes of the round. He will stand and trade. I get Nonaire's a counter puncher. But he is hittable himself. Go watch most of his fights. He looks like a punching bag half the time until he lands his left hook. Gaballo can crack probably the 4th hardest puncher Nonaire has ever faced. What you say can happen. But don't be surprised Nonaire gets hurt in this fight from that Gaballo powar!! Rodriguez did the right thang not trading with Gaballo. Because had he traded like he did against Inoue. Trading hooks in the pocket. It's lights out for him. You hearr me?

No... I don't hear you. Rodriguez was doing that from the opening bell, because that's how he fights sometimes, he can mix it up. Sometimes he's more of a counter puncher, sometimes he's aggressive. Inoue is the reason why he went ultra defensive, not Gaballo. He learned his lesson.

What evidence is there to back up that claim? Who has Gaballo stopped that's a top tier fighter with an iron chin? Not only did he not stop him, he probably should've taken an L against Rodriguez. I doubt Gaballo would make the top 10 hardest punchers for Donaire. He certainly doesn't hit as hard as Inoue, Rigondeaux, Walters, Darchinyan, Arce, Vazquez, Montiel, Marquez, Juarez, Frampton, Magdaleno, Mthalane maybe even Narvaez.

Rodriguez went from trading hooks with inoue to flat out moving. Just like Rigondeux went from trading blows with Ceja to running. It is what is. I mean **** Inoue was the first to take a backward step from Nonaire. Those guys that hit and move are difficult to track down. That's why I said it's stylistic nightmare.

I believe. I estimate Donaire's age. I think Gaballo should you know take the first few rounds chipping away. When those old legs and reflexes slows down. Bang, bang, bang. It will be around 6 or 7th he will need to put that hammer down on the old boy. Punish him and mush his face in cause he cuts a lot.

Probably ref stops it around 9th or 10th.

Hence why I said he learned his lesson. That strategy didn't work out all that well for him did it? So why risk it happening again? Kind of like how Yarde was skittish about gassing out against Arthur the first time, after getting KO'd by Kovalev. It happens.... a lot.

It won't make it to 8. Because Gaballo will walk into a left hook and get knocked unconscious long before that. Inoue was backed up for a reason, because Donaire hits like a sledgehammer. Gaballo will need a chin of iron to walk through his shots to land his own. You're terrible at reading matches.

In fairness to Gaballo, he has made clear in interviews that he is extremely wary of Donaire's left hook and is centering like 90% of his defens game plan on never getting caught by it.

Now, whether he can execute that in gametime conditions is another matter. But he is definitely showing the punch its due respect and honest about the fact that Nonito could basically end him with just one.
