Salas is one of the best trainers out there, but Nonito fought the same was as usual. Super one dimensional and throws one big punch at a time. Nonito has to be one of the most limited boxers that has been on a p4p list ever. Grats to Jessie for winning, he showed a good chin, and I think he's a much better boxer than his brother.

Fought terrible in the middle portion of the fight. 6-9 was all Magdaleno. That decided the fight. If he put the foot on the gas earlier he would have had a good at chance at winning it. Can't change a fighters DNA that late into their career, but he could have picked his spots better and more frequently tonight.

Were Darchinyan and Magdaleno that good too? Darchinyan was boxing his head off in 2013, until Nonito dropped the boxing and went crazy on his ass and got him out of there. Nonito is so one dimensional. Without his prime power and speed, he's just a contender at best.

I don't understand how this thread became about defending Rigo lol and not trying to downplay his win over Nonito. Rigo beat a more prime version of Nonito, faster and stronger, but technically he was still one dimensional. It doesn't diminish his win, the Nonito that fought Rigo would have probably stopped Jessie.

He needs to cut weight and go back down to 112 or 115, where the vast majority of opponents are midgets that are crude and primitively skilled. He will look like a pound for pound guy again. lol. People don't realize he got fighter of the year for beating four scrubs. Vazquez, Mathebula, were big primitively skilled guys. Arce was ancient, and a KO waiting to happen, and they pulled Nishioka out of retirement for one more paycheck. When Donaire got into the ring with someone who had good boxing ability and footwork, he couldn't do anything with him. When he got into the ring with a bigger guy with okay footwork, and power, he couldn't do anything with him. And tonight when he got into the ring with a young guy who was shorter, but had decent footwork, movement and boxing ability, he lost again. He was never the pound for pound guy people said he was. If you look back, he was kept away from the five best 118 pounders. He had already beaten Darchinyan, but Agbkeo, and Moreno were good boxers. They'd have given Donaire a ton of problems.

If Nonito wasn't so one dimensional he would have done far better in Darchinyan 2, and this fight. We saw how one dimensional he was against Magdaleno. If he was more skilled he wouldn't be walking forward, not cutting off the ring well throwing one big punch at a time. I don't know if you're a rigo fanboy or something, but Nonito is one dimensional and relied on has always relied on his athleticism. Age shows this.

Frustrating guy to watch. Why can't he just throw a jab, mix up his power and tempo. He seemed to fall in love with his power and is now quite predictable. I thought he won tonight though. Maybe I need to see it again. Quality fight though and hopefully donaire fights again.

He keeps changing g'damn trainer. And this time made an ass of himself by screaming nonsense in the press conference. He keeps changing trainers he become a wild swinging mofo that relies on power shot and missing badly. Whoa! he needs to retire.

Nonito has nothing left. He should retire. Good career.

I agree very frustrating guy to watch. Donaire could have won if he just opened up. For some reason he likes to watch his opponent. He is FIlipino but he had to go Mexican style on Magdaleno not timid watching this kid run around and pot shot him all night. Oh, well. I felt he could have won if he just stops having this habit of being inactive and throwing one shot a time.I agree very frustrating indeed.
