Nonito kind of reminds me of a little ODLH, xcept Oscar was converted.

i think donaire's nondominant hand is more useful and harder hitting though in comparison. he throws great uppercuts and hurt montiel with a 1-2.

He's slicker than Oscar was, better counter puncher, better use of angles and timing, 2 handed, a very special fighter

Nonito can fight employ a strategic advantage in switching from southpaw to the orthodox

The name Nonito Donaire, i predict, is going to **** off a few Classic Posters to the point of seething hatred within the next couple months

Offensively, I don't see it. Oscar had an excellent 1-2 back in the day, and that's not how Nonito fights at all.

I can see some stylistic similarities, but his athleticism and explosive power remind me a bit of Ray Leonard. The knockout reminded me a bit of Leonard vs Dave "Boy" Green. Both scary knockouts. The difference being, I think Montiel was a little closer in class to Donaire and Donaire actually countered a good left hook by Montiel.
I was a bit disappointed. Had picked Doniare and was rooting for him, but wanted to see a great fight. At the time, Montiel was just working his way into the fight.

I'd like to see him throw a combination once in a while. He hasn't really needed to up to this point in his career, but as he moves further up in weight he won't be able to rely on his power causing as much damage.

He seems more relaxed in there than Oscar was, better conditioned, and utilizes angles more than Oscar. Nonito is great now but Oscar is a legend. Say what you want about him wearing stockings but the guy was incredible in his time we need more warriors like him who'll fight anybody.
