put yourself in donaire's shoes. you're the main event on an HBO card. You're gonna call out a guy who was on the pac undercard and on ESPN FNF? The best thing for Donaire to do is ignore his existence until Rigo makes a name for himself..
Only 2500 attended nonitos fight last night. Nonitos face after Vasquez and mathebula fight looks kind of messy, your boy is starting to get hit...one day a big boy is gonna hurt him.And he's talking about 126, imagine what Mikey or Russell jr will do to him.
I like Rigondeaux (how can you not love such beautiful boxing), but he's becoming a tad overrated lately. Donaire still has the better professional CV, and I'm gonna have a bit of smug satisfaction if Nonito does take him on and beats him clearly. Especially after the way he's being hyped (you'd think he was Sugar Ray Robinson and Jesus all rolled into one).
Post fight interview. KC. You pulled the trigger a bit too quick? “There are a lot of good matchups we can make with Nonito,” said Arum. “There’s [Jorge] Arce, Toshiaki Nishioka, [Guillermo] Rigondeaux. We can make a lot of good fights with those guys.” http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/arum-discusses-pavlik-and-donaire-122373?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=arum-discusses-pavlik-and-donaire
I was at the fight, loser. You could tell Rigo's opponent was running the whole fight. He tried to look all slick and when that knockout came in the 6th, he was just relieved that he didn't have to look bad. You never ever see a mexican try to box slick.
LOL, 2500 is a sellout if it were Rigo fighting..atsch Carson is a lot different than fighting in Vegas. Venue and entertainment is a lot better. Uhh, its boxing, you ******. People get hit in the face all the time. He got hit because he was chasing a 5-11 slick boxer that ran from him all night. and that big boy last night just peppered him. I thought Nonito won by 4 rounds not including the knockdown. I
Donaire-Mares is the fight to make at 122lbs. It's one of the best fights that can be made in boxing, period. Rigondeaux-Donaire is a potential stinker, and so I'm less inclined to campaign for it.
Donaire is a world class fighter but he's also a world class businessman, he matches up better with mares so he'll take that fight and avoid Rigondeaux and hell really and truly who could blame him Rigo is a slick, southpaw with power **** that
DOBY. . . ZHEEEEEE! Hahaha I love saying your name. . . After our old Doberman Pinscher, Lady died, we got another one, and we named him DOBY! Rigo vs. Donaire!!!!
the ladies love my name as well..:yep Rigo vs Donaire, its there but it needs to be marketed more. THink of it like Cotto vs Mayweather Jr. in 2006. The money wouldn't be the same as it was last May. If Rigo and Donaire keep marketing themselves and making tension by avoiding his name, the demand will be even greater. Right now, Rigo is probably gonna take some easy fights and let Donaire do all the work. 10-0, he should be fighting at least 4 times a year against Scrubs. Heck he fought hundreds of fights as an amateur, what's the difference? Headgear/ give mea f'n break. Rigo get back to work or you'll be rolling cigars back home..:hat
Haha it just sounds so cool. . . If Rigo fights another Kennedy, he won't be doing himself any favors by marketing, and building up the fight. . . So far, it's definitely off to a good start - with all the **** talkage, and back and forths between the Donaire/Rigo camps, and their fans (lol, although I admit my boy Chacal doesn't have too many fans). . . Ideally, Rigo would be the one to try to get to an Arce, or even Mares before Donaire. . . But I don't know if either of htem would be too eager to take that fight. .
Is it really "ducking" if your promoter will NEVER make the fight between the two for obvious reasons? I'm not saying Donaire would win, nor do I really care who would, but the fact is Donaire doesn't make the decisions about his future fights, TR does. That's just the facts of boxing as a business. Its unfortunate for guys like Rigo and Lara because they have so much amateur experience nobody with around the same amount of pro fights wants to fight them, and nobody with 30 pro fights wants to risk losing to them, they are in limbo.
Top Rank was going to make Donaire-Rigondeaux last year, but that desire suddenly went out the window after Donaire's new contract. Furthermore, if the fight not happening was all Top Rank's doing, why does Donaire continue to sign like a petrified child or a horse's ass every time Rigondeaux's name is mentioned? A simple "up to my promoters" would have deflated this talk eons ago, but instead he offers hypocritical and false reasons for why the fight shouldn't take place.
These cubans think that their past amateur experience means anything on the negotiating table.. Its why Gamboa is still in relative obscurity. Promoters not putting them in good fights and them not taking any high risks..
