Nordine Oubaali born 08/04/1986 is a Bantamweight with a 15-0 11 KO's record. Born in Lens, Pas-de-Calais, France and fighting out of Bagnolet, Seine-Saint-Denis, France. Nordine turned pro at 28 in 2014, which is getting quite long in the tooth for a guy fighting in the lower divisions, but since he hasn't been in any wars, and he's just elusive enough to not take much punishment, I think he can hang around for a few years at least. He's of Moroccan descent and was the THIRTEENTH of 18 kids, damn. He had a fairly notable amateur career, he came within a hair of beating Shiming at the 2008 Olympics, barely losing a 3-3+ decision, then before being eliminated in the quarterfinals in the 2012 Olympics by Mick Conlan, he was the guy that took Rau'shee Warren out. He competing in the WSB, where he beat the beastly King Tug. Since turning pro he's had somewhat of a quiet career, but along the way has picked up a few notable wins. He stopped teak tough Iran Diaz by basically no mas, after dropping Iran, he wanted no more, then is the same guy that went 12 brutal rounds with Sor Rungvisai, and recently he stopped violently, in an unpleasant to watch KO, Pinoy talent Mark Anthony Geraldo, stopping him legitimately for the first time in his career, which is no easy feat. He's a slippery, defensively south aggressive southpaw, that can fight off the front foot or the back. He's got fairly excellent footwork, controls range very well, has a solid jab and a nasty upjab at times, throws shots from odd angles, at times can produce blinding speed, has nice combos and is quite heavy handed. Personally I think he's a real sleeper at Bantamweight and I was bummed he didn't enter the WBSS tournament, I think he's capable of giving everyone in the tournament their toughest test aside from Naoya Inoue, who I think would beat him, but maybe not easily. Another sleeping dragon but damn he must getting pissed that it's taking this long to fight for the wbc belt.
Oubaali is ****ing good. Watching him vs Warren right now. And who the **** taught Warren defense? Mother****ers go to move is to drop his guard and take a step back, hoping the punches will land on his arms. At times he would catch and shoot off of that defense, but FFS! He ate too many clean shots because of it. Warren never has a gameplan.
