Inspired by the Toney/Ruiz press conference thread, I once again wonder: does Stoney know anything about boxing? He's one of the most entertaining characters the sport has ever produced, but seemed to be nothing beyond a terrible distraction to his fighter. What's your take on Stoney as an actual trainer... - did he ever train anyone else of any note? - did Ruiz get where he did in spite of Stoney or was Stoney a help? - is "Fight this ****in' guy!" the best he could do advice wise? - was Ruiz dropping him a good move? Because everyone enjoys getting Stoned... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TVi6qugGBw[/ame]
I am from mass and saw ruiz in the gloves and has seen stoney a ton of times and still have never seen another fighter he has trained...he is funny as hell but a clown
Is that who actually works with Ruiz seriously & creates gameplans, etc.? He gets media attention, there's no doubt about that. I've just never sorted out whether he was a net benefit to his fighter or not. I lean to "not" since Ruiz was likely just embarrassed by it and eventually got sick of it and moved on.
no alex rivera trains a ton of top amateurs and some decent pros in lynn mass...he was just helping out with ruiz lol...but whoever came up with his gameplans is not all that stupid it made him ALOT of money
Thanks for the laughs! That was great! Jones was right on... "You GOTTA love Norman" lmao I almost forgot about this clown... but hey, he guided a pretty mediocre guy to the HW championship, and through numerous defenses. Can't take that away from him. Fk it... maybe he can train Arreola... wtf? ... why the fk not?
Yeah, cheating - illegal tactics like excessive holding and faking "low blows." Stone is entertaining, but the Ruiz fraud - a glorified clubfighter holding a world title belt through cheating and corruption - is a disgrace to the history of this sport.
