same result as in the other Norris - srl thread

I hate saying this, but what we saw happen in their actual fight, is what's ALWAYS going to happen and people should just learn to live with it instead of making up scenarios in which Terry is edited into a fragile chinned hot head with no discipline, who gets caught after giving "a troubled Leonard a good fight"

it seems that this is a common approach taken by the usual esb poster. if you remember, Norris was given no chance to beat leonard in their actual fight, and not one sportswriter came forward

so how did SI writer assigned to cover the story handle it? he left out the details of the fight and simply covered leonard's career instead. that was his coping mechanism and left out the ugly details (which is actually what he was paid to do) because he didnt want to tarnish leonard's career with reality which had an unworthy Norris an easy win. the writer was actually upset that Norris did not choke like he was expecting and get "Garden-itis"

and this result has had not only sportswriters, but esbers steaming since the aftermath of that fight. their way of coping with it is to whittle down Terry into a basketcase who is not capable of winning these significant bouts; certainly not in the convincing fashion he demonstrated

Just watched the first round of Ray v Kalule and he was missing a lot more than Norris v Brown, he threw more shots also.

I was reading the ring magazine a month before this fight and some writer was saying Leonard better hope Norris`s chin fails because the younger man had better reflexes and on the cover of my British boxing magazine Boxing monthly they had the title has sugar ray had his day, so it seems a number of writers were wary of the situation, I mean Ray hadn`t look good since beating Hagler!

which writer was that? I dont remember any Norris closet cases. I had no problem finding anyone who wouldnt put their money on Ray, and lots of it!

and it's no wonder the way Ray kept Duran off balance and missing. I mean, his back hadnt touched the ropes once and upon the fight's conclusion, was hailed as another brilliant performance

the mobility employed by Ray in that fight, was to no avail in the Norris fight

the reason I picked Norris is becuz I noticed that going back to the Larry Bonds fight of 1981, Leonard seems reluctant to take chance coming forward, as though he were unsure how to go about it. He didnt like assuming the role of aggressor which was confirmed in the Hearns fight as it took round after round for him how to figure catch a moving target, even a weakened moving target like hearns

Now, am I saying Leonard has NO chance? no becuz Leonard COULD possibly reach him. but what I think is likely to happen is that similar to their actual fight, I think initially he shellshocks poor Leonard (having no idea wtf he's even looking at, having never encountered the like of him) and just beguiles him to a decision with all that sheer speed of his.

fitting nearly perfectly what what transpired in their actual fight when the outcome was decided early on. I felt quite relieved when I saw Ray coming on during the second round (even tho all my money was on Terry)

but then, Terry turned up the heat on Ray, tripling both his speed and his power, proving once and for all that NO ONE was in his class

after that, Ray knew he couldnt win and lost hope, felt his guts turn to jelly after getting slapped down and it was just so sad, I cant bear recounting the details

    Well, at least I'm honest!
