does any1 else think that fighters from the north of England or Britian get more support or following then those from the south. Would Khan and Hatton get the same following if they were from London, maybe London is more fractured, but there is more bias towards northern boxers, imagine if Haye was from manchester, newcastle or bermingham, but because he's from london before the enzo fight he couldn't even sell out york hall.

    Yes i think they would.

Hatton was/is marketed as the boy next door, he is likeable and his fights are entertaining(to most)

Khan has the olympic medalist angle plus being an asian, he has the asian vote

Oh yes he could. When Haye fought Fragomeni the York Hall was full to bursting point. The support Haye got that night was fantastic.

Hatton and Khan may get a lot of support when they fight, but a lot of it is casual support, drummed up by the FW hype machine.

I never said he did. A lot of Hatton's support comes from when he did promote him. Those supporters didn't just disappear when Ricky and Frank split.

Perhaps you should think twice before jumping to conclusions about what people know or don't know.

Fighters like Bruno and Benn had plenty of support for suvveners.

Is that strong enough though? Audley had the same

Until Haye does it a few more times people wont stand up and notice

Like someone said, Hatton is 'a normal down to earth bloke who likes eating crisps and drinking, good guy' and Khan is the Goldenboy, Olympic star, Asian hope and future great!

    Both effective

Haye would have had a far better following if he would have had a better promoter from the start.
Didn't his fight with Mormeck only get put on Setanta at the last minute?
Haye has the style and his fights are exciting enough for him to have a strong following.

In fairness if he couldn't sell out the York Hall he'd be in big trouble, it's not the biggest of venues.

I was thinking of Bruno when I saw this thread, plus surely people aren't forgetting our 'Enry?

I think the bar area is as big as the boxing hall!
