    Schmeling, and it's not close:

bodhi, Bummy Davis, HOUDINI, martinburke, Nobby, PetethePrince, RobertV77, Vic-JofreBRASIL, YUZO WANTANABE

    Norton, and it's not close:
Clinton, frankenfrank, Hands of Iron, SP_Mauler, suriamarsuli, Theron

:think Interesting. I didn't think I'd get that many not-closes. Although, as suspected, I am really no closer to being definite on how I rank them. :sad2

I go with Schmeling above Norton.

Norton got the better of Ali over three bouts, as far as I'm concerned, but that was not the best version of Ali. Apart from that, he struggled with Jimmy Young, lost to Larry Holmes and was obliterated by Shavers and Foreman.

Schmeling's bouts with Sharkey are mired in controversies, so I consider them about even. Max also competed hard with Baer. The win over Louis is the defining point for me.
