Quality! that era and before it was a constant flow of great fighters, holmes, norton, foreman, frazier, ali, liston. its a shame when you look at todays shite standard
James is old school, kinda like an Archie Moore. When is reasonable shape, he can compete with any generation.
He can compete w/ any generation i can agree w/ you on that... but if James was in shape he'd be nowhere near the heavyweight division and since he is considered a threat in HW division...it sort of speak volumes on the quality of this division today. This clip just made me even sadder :verysad
A couple months ago I was at an event and Larry Holmes was doing an appearance. As I was having him sign a boxing glove they had this fight playing on a huge plasma TV behind him. I said to him that was the greatest heavyweight fight I'd ever seen. He turned and just as he looked at the screen Norton was teeing off on him. He cringed and did a little shudder.
**** ME, are you lot brainwashed or what? They looked like two (non fat) sam peters slugging it out, standing front on, swinging clubbing shots at eachother and often missing. All you can say is how great they were and better than today's fighters! Really, look again. They weren't.
Yea really no heavyweight today could fight at that pace for that long:-( Wlad would never make it, carrying all of that muscle he would gas out, the Heavyweight's of the 70's WERE THE BEST EVER:deal!!
Yeah, that was incredible. However, for me there can only be one best heavyweight round.......... Bowe - Holyfield 1 - round 10. [YT]CxXphM7xztU&feature=related[/YT]
You're so right. Mother nature dished out all of the best boxers for the 1970's and decided to stop there.
