    Saw an appearance of his on the tonight show (you can prolly still find it on ytube). He's a very funny guy. Very different from what DeNiro played him like (though DeNiro played the private, not the public Jake).

    Why was he a scumbag (besides the stuff from the movie)?

    Where did you get that from?? When did he murder an old man? How old was he?

    The thought's crossed my mind :lol:. Maybe the alternative fuel that we should be researching for cars is **** and vinegar - seems Jake's gotten a hell of alot of mileage off of it.

    Jake did not murder the man in question.
    During a robbery he beat him and with a pipe iirc. He thought for many
    years that he killed him, till he saw him alive.

    Book also details that he was a serial ******.

    Yes, his own autobio depicts him as much worse than in the film.
    ANd who knows what he left out.

    Anyone read Vikki's book?

    He graphically describes how he raped a virgin (his friend's girlfriend) until she bled. He also talks another time about another girl he raped.

    In another part, he talks about how he beat the hell out of his wife in a drunken blackout, and thought he killed her. He was concerned about it harming his career, and his brother suggested throwing her in the river (she wasn't dead).

    Same reason no one else really cares that plenty of elite boxers are women beaters in their free time. We primarily look up to them for their boxing skills, not their husbanding skills.
