And this we all know. I figured Oscar should offer $10 million plus some of the PPV revenue because everybody gotta eat. Oscar has been in the game long enough to know how to short a fighter and make him "feel rich". Many at one point, wanted Mayweather to fight GGG and talked about how "small" of a middle weight Golovkin is and how he is willing to go down to 154 and KO Mayweather. Well just how much money do you think he would have gotten? $25 million? Man ,please. he would have gotten a flat $5 million or maybe $7 million ,PPV in his home country and a UD loss for starving. So just remember that when you are talking out of your ass about him fighting Mayweather. Oscar is being generous by comparison.
What he does is looks at their highest payday and goes a few million over that. Like Marquez made almost $4 million fighting him in his return match adding the missed weight mone Floyd had to pay. Marquez had only made $1 million dollars for the Pacquiao fight, but never made that type of money ever again in boxing that he made fighting Mayweather. So sometimes it works for guys like Maidana, Ortiz, Guerrero and Berto, but Cotto and Canelo made more after. I never seen Rios post anything about the money he made in Macau. The taxes ate that **** up when he got back home.
I think it was more about the opportunity to KO Mayweather. I think Triple G would have taken a Floyd fight for 5 million. Maybe even just 2 million.
I don't think any true boxing fans wanted Mayweather to fight GGG,Mayweather at the end of his career has fought everyone but asking such a small man to fight a middleweight is crazy talk.
Not at the excruciating rate of draining down to a skeleton and being told not to hydrate more than 4-5 pounds. I guess the exposure would be great but damn, He would have to be 157-158 come fight night. It would be a wash for Mayweather and another fat check. We just seen how a confident Brook lasted very well, now look at a drained Golovkin versus a man who never lacks confidence in any fight and will never, ever stand there for you to hit. It would literally be a highlight reel pot shot event for Floyd.
Officially handing Floyd a loss, especially a KO loss, would have launched him into the stratosphere of boxing and the history books. Yeah, I think he would have done it for chump change. And a drained Golovkin w/ 75% of his power would have KO'd Floyd. Golovkin's the best ring cutter in the game. Pacquiao, Cotto, Maidana, and Ortiz were all able to drive Floyd to the ropes.
golovkin would have made way more than than with his ppv cut... problem is canelo really need ggg to bring 1 million ppv or more...floyd doesnt
