Not good news for Ricky that he is getting tagged in sparring quite a bit...

When I used to go see Ali train in his Deer Lake training camp, he'd get smacked around by the sparring partners all the time. Angelo Dundee would explain to the crowd that the champ was working on different things and the appearence of the training sessions might be misleading.
I mean, Rick is going to lose in all probability anyway, so why the constant pointing out on every negative aspect of his preperation? Are their doubts among the Mayweather fans?

I've said from day one that for him to beat Floyd he will have to take a lot of shots so I don't see this as a worry really.

It's not as though Floyd has the power to KO him anyway, the only concern is accumulation of punches causing swelling around the eyes and the risk of cuts.

Yeah...to increase his chances of winning by a bit, Ricky needs to increase his chances of losing by a lot...risky strategy, but I admire him tremendously if he put it into practice - prepared to look like **** and get stopped early just to put it all on the line of that winning card...

    Go Ricky!:good

This is a very, very tight fight. Sure, its hard not to be hypnotised by desire for Hatton to be competitive or victorious because he's a Brit like me. But to my mind, whichever way you stand this fight up, it promises to be a classic.

I don't think Floyd can seriously hurt, or put down Hatton. If he can't do that, Hatton brings tools to the table, or a mixture of tools Floyd hasn't seen before. I know how gifted Floyd is and he has speed. But Hatton is more than a punch-hug merchant he's often regarded as by the myopic American fans.

His foot-speed is good, he throws lots of shots, his stamina is excellent and he will be arguably the strongest fighter pound for pound Floyd will have ever faced. Psychologically, I think he possesses more self-belief than any of FLoyd's recent opponents.

All of whom have been tired, jaded fighters.

Gatti, DLH, Judah, Mitchell, Baldomir. There are few in their prime fighters there, nobody with Hatton's engine and I'd suggest none of them with the unwilting self-belief of Hatton.

Maybe I'm trying to convince myself here. Perhaps. But I think this is a 60-40 fight for Floyd, no better.

Funny how Floyd fans say that sparring (especially with Spadafora) doesn't mean ****, but then when they hear Ricky Hatton is getting "tagged", well, that can only mean one thing....

    Where was that stated?

The article K2Ray linked nevr said it like that AT ALL. it said the one partner who was hitting him in round 1 was forced to QUIT in round 2.

I disagree...I don't think it will be a great fight at all...Ricky will try to grab and hold and Floyd will run...

"It struck me watching Hatton spar that he does get hit a fair bit but strangely that may be to his advantage in this match. It sounds strange I know but here's my reasoning: Ricky has a style that forces opponents to fight. He gets hit because he's always in a position and range to hit back."

yea but Floyd has seen good pressure maybe not Hatton's pressure but he is familiar with pressure indeed. HOWEVER....name anyone on his RESUME who can even come close to Floyd?

Another thing name a fighter who Hatton has had to really be precise in his movements.....Ricky's opponents ALL were right there for him to back down and to come in close to....they all fought Ricky's fight let Ricky dictate the show...the Zu fights was the most evident as Ricky paced that fight so fast Zu just couldnt do it. He raised the pace of the Cas fight and Cas sompletely let his defense down on the ropes and was hit with a vicious body blow.....Floyd has never allowed anyone to make him fight anything but HIS fight.

Their training....Hatton is training wrong for this fight....i honestly see him training himself to be able to apply massive pressure and inflict his gameplan. I think thats going to be his downfall....he needs to train for what FLOYD does and brings to the table. While he was hitting that bag he was wild and reckless leaving so many openings..Floyd will hit him with many uppercuts as in the Chavez fight where Chavez applied non-stop pressure and he ate so many uppercuts. Hatton has already stated he doesnt respect Floyds power....thats another mistake because he puts himslef in position to be caught off guard in the fight and become confused more then he already will be just trying to figure Floyd out period. we seen Cotto change and become a boxer when pressure wasn't working....can Hatton do this.....he doesn't posess the body size like Cotto...Hatton's arms are far to short although Hatton has decent speed he is not quicker nor faster than Floyd who also posess a 71in reach compared to a 64in reach. This means when Floyd fights on his back foot he can beat Hatton to the pucn Floyd fights on his front foot he beats Hatton to the punch. Then Once Hatton reaches Floyd as i think he will at some point in time....i think Floyd's in-fighting can be dangerous if you underestimate it and focus solely on your offense when your in there. Hatton just has so many obstacles man....it will be a great fight but Floyd is going to put a dominant performance on.

    :good

In relation to this at the recent press showing, did anyone else not detect Hatton 's growing self doubt (he went on again about his state of affair before this fight and comparing it to his behaviour before previous fights....why the need to mention what should be obvious):hi:

    Thanks,

Apparently I glossed over that as it was the article K2ray linked, but i believe you're reading too much into that.

Of course floyd's gonna hit him. Kostya tszyu did as WELL and hits harder and is quite a boxer himself. Haton was able to impose his will in the end.

I see this fight going a very close 12 rounds regadless of who's out on top.:good
