I felt he won his gold medal illegitimately 3 years ago. Haven't followed his pro career, but I was hoping he would look good. Just watched his fight from last weekend. A few things: His speed isn't great. He's a BIG guy, but in comparison to a similarly sized Wladimir at the same age, he is very slow. His jab isn't very crisp. It looks heavy, but it doesn't look anything special. This should be what he focuses on developing. Power doesn't look especially good. He was tagging a much smaller journeyman cleanly and couldn't score a decisive, nasty KO. I hope he turns into something good, but right now he looks like an upset waiting to happen.
His right hand is also a problem. It is not a natural punch for him. He can't throw it straight and turn his elbow over like he should. And when he brings it back to his chin it does not come back in a straight line. In fact, it often comes up over his head in a big arch. He does have a terrific and dextrous left hand, though. It's almost as if he's actually left-handed but fighting orthodox.
he's a HUGE dude...a frickin monster. His biggest problem is gonna be maintaining his fitness level. But he's very fast for such a big man and very well schooled. He's got championship material written all over him.
It wasn't the most impressive of performances. But he got the job done and probably learned a bit more in the process.
The said thing is that if Anthony Joshua's name was Anton Drachunov/Golubev/Pedikovsky, you'd be his biggest nuthugger on this site
I think he's got very fast hands for his size. In fact, his hand speed is what impresses me most about him.
He has size and power thats all. He got like 3 gifts to win that Gold medal it was total bs. Hughie Fury would give his big slow bulky a/.rse a boxin lesson
