I not only would take Zarate over Chandler but a prime Davila over Chandler for sure. I'm from California, so biased, but think Tweety beats jeff in their primes.

Well...................Zarate DID actually knock out Davila in real life, so that's a pretty good guess. Davila was a solid, well-schooled technician, but not in Zarate's league.

I was at that fight. I meant, DAVILA OVER CHANDLER. Sorry. I worded it wrong.

Oh, okay. Cool fight to be at!

I guess one could draw some parallels between Davila and his style and Oscar Muniz, who troubled Chandler to the point of beating him once, but that was a Chandler at the very end of his tether. I think Chandler would slice Tweety up and stop him on cuts or decision him.

I grew up watching Davila- he lived a couple blocks away from me- and I, too, think he would beat Chandler. Coming from somebody who, as a boy, would find a reason to walk by Davila's house several times a day, hoping to see him, I may be biased too.

Not only would I be glad to take your money on Chandler over Zarate, but I would gladly give you double or nothing against Davila and take it again. Chandler takes a solid decision against both!

That was also a Chandler as an unexpected fight, and the rematch should have answered that question clearly.

Davila was susceptible to cuts, and had all sorts of hard luck aside from that. I could see him doing well and making the fight pretty close, but Chandler probably finds a way to either stop him late through cuts, or to eke out a hard fought decision over 15.

It would be close and i think Davila was a better technical fighter than Chandler, but the gap in physical ability would probably see Chandler overhaul him after being made to look a bit foolish early(like Pintor was)and take a close but clear decision.

Chandler big edge in range and strength.Davila would have real issues on the inside as the fight goes on and he wasn't the kind of cutie who could move all fight and maybe frustrate Chandler. He would slow down and become more stationary after 5-6 rounds usually.

Even Lujan was able to take the play from Alberto in a 15 rounder through better physical attributes(a fighter i feel Davila really should have defeated)and Jorge is not the lean awkward, yet strong and wiry fighter that Chandler was.

Eh......Chandler wasn't fighting that much better a fight the second time around. He started quicker, but was still largely ineffective. He was lucky those cuts opened up again. Very close fight when it was stopped.

Eh....(Sal you have long been one of my favorite posters)..2 judges had it 4-2 w/ the 3rd 5-1 in favor of chandler...with my Philly bias I had him winning 5 of those 6 (But it has been a few years since I scored this fight). Not sure that I find it all that close, but perhaps I need to rewatch it.

I dunno man, I gave Muniz at least a couple rounds of the completed six, and at least one other was close enough to doubt. Given how much smaller Muniz was, Chandler should have been walking right through him, but he was catching lots of leather and Muniz was stealing a couple rounds in there.

But saying that, as I mentioned before that was Chandler on fumes. I think it was the very next fight where he did his zombie impersonation against Sandoval.

    Hope all's good there! :good

Chandler lacing the cuts after the opening didn't help either. Chandler could be outhustled and Davila would do so I think. davila one of the best pinpoint punchers I saw.

I think Jeff beats both Carlos and Alberto, though Carlos it would be tooth and nails.

I've never bought the Chandler running on fumes bit. He was in his prime andjust was fighting better fighters in Muniz and Sandoval. And he just got beat by better fighters. He never even lasts to the 10th against the Pintor that fought the great Gomez!
