He will punish Pac and fold him in half with body shots.

    No.
    Yes.

    Yes.

And I've seen the great majority of Cotto's fghts since about his 3rd pro fight and I truthfully didn't see a difference in his body punching. Seemed like he was putting some good juice on his punches to me. I did however notice differences in Cotto in other areas that might be due to the Margarito pounding he suffered, but body punching is not one of those areas.

If you did see a difference maybe he just didn't put all he had into every body shot because he was throwing more body shots than usual in that fight.. because Cotto has never been a very consistent body puncher. He usualy only throws a couple per round and because of how heavy that punch is that's usually enough to get the job done. Micky Ward was the same way.

I agree with Kirk, a recent fight was Cotto VS Quintana compare this fight with the Cotto VS Sosa or Cotto Vs Ndou and youll see what Kirk is trying to explain, is something on his angles when he throws the body punches. Now they seem weird. Hes looks more wide open, out of balance and with less speed.

I have noticed cotto's power overall has diminished since moving to 147....cotto was an animal at 140, just a shame his body wouldn't allow him to stay there.....

I hope you're sarcastic and not legitimately that clueless, cockney.

But I agree with a lot of the posts that his body punching has really dropped off against the higher quality of opposition. And his quality of opposition was never anything to sneeze at at Light Welter, but still...

when the going got tough? It was tough for the last however many rounds.... cotto was exhausted, getting battered and had nothing left.... but margarito doesnt have the power to knock him out, only to continue ****ing him up badly. God forbid the guy bows out before he winds up like G-Man.... jezus. Im all about the blood and guts warriors, but it doesnt mean every fighter has to fight that way, especially when they know theyve taken all they can. Its not how i would have liked cotto to go out but it is what it is....

Hes been in PLENTY of fights to show his heart... torres, mosley, clottey... one fight doesnt make who he is.

    - As for this thread, I am hoping that it is indeed the level of opposition which is why i dont see cotto throwing like he used to, but really... go back and watch some old cotto (bailey, pinto, torres) and he digs those shots hard and deep, to the head and body... im hoping he gets back to that against pac.

Cotto said he tried to land body punches against Margo, but he couldn't get to his body. I expect him to go to the body against Pac because I think he can be a little bit more liberal going forward against Pac then he was against Margo IE he won't have to be on his bike.

holy **** i just seen this post... and you are spot on with exactly what im trying to say. He doesnt 'turn it over' as much so to speak.

At least im not the only one who notices it.... its not huge but i do see it. And im not saying he doesnt still throw good body shots but their def a bit differant in my opinion.

ya i can understand that.... its hard to go to the body like he would want to backing up like that, and im sure he thought he had a good plan of simply outboxing marg as well.

I always felt Cotto fell in love with his "boxing" skills a bit after the Mosley fight changing his style up a bit.
