Not surprising. Fedor, like Big Nog and Crocop, has become shot with age & damage.

    Although I tipped Fedor to win by sub, I'm really not all that surprised by last night's outcome.


    Almost every one of the best fighters from the early-mid 2000s are shot now, or at least have much declined punch resistance and all-round ability.


    Big Nog took extreme punishment in Pride from the likes of Crocop and Fedor, went to war with the likes of Barnett and Kharitonov, yet by the time he was in the UFC he was getting blitzed early by Mir and Velasquez.

    Crocop smashed through the likes of Vovchanchyn, Aleks Emelianenko and Barnett, and went the distance with Fedor, yet now he gets knocked cold by the likes of Brendan Schaub.

    Fedor beat down great fighters like Big Nog and Crocop, and dealt with much bigger men with ease, yet now he gets stopped in the 1st round by a 207lbs Dan Henderson.


    This even goes for non-Pride fighters as well. Chuck Liddell's punch resistance looked totally gone when he got sparked in the 1st round by Rich Franklin, and both Randy Couture and Matt Hughes have suffered bad KOs as well in the autumn of their careers.


    All of these guys are now losing to guys they would have stomped in their primes, and all have considerably worse punch resistance than they had in their primes.

    As I say, last night wasn't surprising at all.

    Surely to God, Fedor will retire now. He must. No-one wants to see the greatest mixed martial artist of all-time getting knocked out on a regular basis, that would be even more tragic than what has been happening to the great Roy Jones for years in boxing.

    Fedor is 34yrs - why shld he retire again?

    Sad thing is, like Roy, he can still make a good living out of his name :-(

    I don't think he's shot, but he's definitely past his prime. Regardless of the video's and the new gyms and camps in holland, I don't think he's drastically changed the way he trains. Much like after the Werdum loss and leading into the Silva fight, he just went back and did the exact same thing he's done for years. The game is changing, and whether it's age, battle fatigue, motivation, politics or whatever Fedor seems to be unable or unwilling to keep up anymore.

    Fedor NEED's to retire. His had alot of wear and tear on his body. If he can't beat a light heavy ( Although it was Hendo ) he must call it day. I don't want to see him turn into a name punching bag. It's over. The sun has set on the 'Last Emperor'.

    You don't think he's shot after he gets knocked out in the 1st round by one shot that a 207lbs Dan Henderson threw while Hendo was not even upright and got no leverage behind it? This was a guy who had NEVER been knocked out in a long career of fighting big, natural heavyweights.

    What exactly would convince you he is shot then, getting knocked out on the way to the cage? :huh

    Yeah, coz a 207lbs Dan Henderson is a better fighter than a 240lbs peak Big Nog and a 240lbs peak Crocop.

    Youre obviously new to this sport. Fedor was nearly KOd by a Fujita slap and a Randleman push

    Randleman push? Fedor was spiked on his head and wasn't remotely close to being KO'ed let alone hurt in that fight.

    As for Fujita big deal. Fujita was a 240lb solid heavyweight and the first guy to have Fedor on ***** street. Less than a few minutes later he was choked out. Fedor had GREAT powers of recovery and a great chin despite marking up easily. He's simply got old and the years have caught up.

    You're obviously a ******, because the guy fought the biggest and best heavyweights in the world for a decade and was never knocked out once.

    He's not shot the way that Chuck, Wanderlei and Nog are.

    I'm not going to argue with the mechanics and leverage of the punch, Dan may not have been upright when he threw it, but neither was Fedor, and it came in at an angle from which he couldn't possibly see it coming. It was still a Dan Henderson right hand, and if anyone else had eaten that and been KO'd there would be no reason to suspect his chin. Just look at the punishment Fedor took during the Silva fight and tell me his chin is gone.

    Like I said, I don't think he's shot, but he is past his prime, and I'd like to see him retire.
