Not surprising. Fedor, like Big Nog and Crocop, has become shot with age & damage.

If a fight with George was going to take place it would have been in place of the Okami match. I respect Yushin, but the Box Office draw is not comparable in the slightest. They have been delaying his shot for at least a year now, for those reasons mainly


Never say never, but I doubt it. Let's see how the Diaz & Okami fights go, things may change

 

I think it's a mismatch, as well. Huge wrestler with vicious GnP and competent stand-up against otherworldly counterstriker with NO takedown defense and a complacent guard that took five rounds to submit Sonnen who has a "choke here" sign hanging on his neck. Jones ****s Silva up and I don't care to see it.

I think your optimum career trajectory for Silva is spot on, as well. Clear the blemish of the Okami DQ, clear up any doubt about the Sonnen fight, and have a nice P4P fight with GSP. I'm really uninterested in Silva against Bisping or Mayhem because neither has the proper tools to give him a good fight but if they do it I'll watch.

Hard to argue that perhaps his punch resistance and bit of reflexes might be on the slide. But, I was just posting in another thread about indications that Fedor might not be fully preparing himself for some of his latest fights. One poster pointed out that he goes in to his last few fights like he's trying to get in and out of the cage ASAP and falls into headhunting and wild shots and neglecting grappling and stuff. Also I thought especially his legs looked pretty damn thin almost as if he didn't do any strenght training in the past year or two. Also he has implied retirement was possible after big foot (maybe after werdum too - can't remember). Maybe he's not 100& dedicated and would retire if not for M1. what u guys think?

 

One of the main things Fedor had going for him despite being technically poor was that he could really take a shot and really give one back. That usually resulted in him allowing to ko or sub his opponent.

3 strikes, surely he must retire.

That sucks about Fedor, but it is definitely time for him to retire, less he become another Ken Shamrock. We all knew this was going to happen sooner or later.

 

That's exactly why you should appreciate Hendo a lot more these days. He's been in more wars than Fedor. He's been battered by both the Nog bros, faced Rampage, Wandy, Rua, and was gutted by A. Silva. Yet at the age of 40, Hendo is still going strong - something Fedor will never even come close to doing.

As for Fedor, I'm not so sure he would have easily beaten Bigfoot Silva in his prime. If you watch the Fedor-Choi fight carefully, Choi was actually manhandling Fedor with his size and strength. Fedor was losing until he locked in an armbar. Anything Choi can do, Bigfoot can do a lot better since he possesses more skills and intelligence.

It seems like you're making excuses for Fedor. He is one hell of a fighter but you shouldn't allow yourself to get carried away. Even being past his prime he should've beaten the smaller and older Hendo IF you actually believe Fedor is supremely talented. No excuses.
