Lazcano is an underrated puncher. I'm not saying he is one of the biggest punchers in the world, but he can punch.
When Ricky did throw punches in bunches he looked good but Lazcano would grab and hold whenever Ricky did.
Yeah Lazcano is known as a decent puncher, he is in fact "the chosen Juan" and he was in fight night round 3 the video game which I think solidifies his legitimacy as a solid fighter. The thing is though, Lazcano was going to retire prior to fighting Hatton and had significant time to develop ring rust so he wasn't going to be causing any "Panic" What was the point of this thread again ?
Well everyone likes to keep pointing out about Hatton being hurt, how his ability to take a punch is decreasing due to his lifestyle. And to a certain degree, I agree, but lets also not act like Lazcano couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag.
Right, Lazcano can do some damage with his punches its just ESB man people love to be over critical and all snooty.
This is awful reasoning. So Golden Johnson knocked out Lazcano in 1998. So does that mean that Hatton should have handled Lazcano easily? Is boxing a big math equation that you can figure out playing with stats like that? OK, let's play. Lazcano gave Hatton some trouble, BUT he got knocked out by Golden Johnson. BUT Golden Johnson got BEAT by Ben Tackie. So you'd figure Tackie would KILL Hatton. After all, he beat the guy who knocked out the guy who gave Hatton trouble. But what happened when Hatton fought Tackie? Oh, that's right.
Lazcano is a banger...he gave Vivian Harris hell and almost stole the show from him. Hell, he gave Stevie Johnston a far more decisive beating than Harris did (when Johnston was far less gone, too). Lazcano was a tougher fight than Hatton fans wanted to admit to themselves, and it showed in that ring. Still, Ricky spent most of the fight kicking Juan's ass. It was just Hatton's weakeness (lack of defense and head movement) that got him caught in the 8th and 10th rounds. Ricky would not have lost that fight, although he would have looked stupid getting knocked down in the 10th (what the ref was really saving him from). No Mayweather rematch if poor Ricky got dropped by that Pain-Causing Hispanic. Now, it's still likely even if a little marred. What's more, he's got a date at the Garden with that preening, soft-touch hairjob. Hatton to KO Paulie in 4.
IMO, Hatton is strong no doubt. But he can be hurt.Even way before May KTFO hatton he was stunned in several fights. His body is weak.I remember he complained about washed Up Castillo rip to the body. He complained that it was low the ref bailed him out. But that was a clean body shot.Ten rounds he is breathing hard. hatton style is clinched break punch clinched break punch.Lucky he had the hometown advantage otherweise if it was in the U.S I believe he would have been stopped....
Nah, all it tells me is that you'll jump through loops of tortured logic to confirm your puzzling and unfounded grudge against Hatton. You're a hater. Haters come a dime a dozen. My point is that boxing is a messy business. Anything can happen on any given day. Lazcano took Castillo 12 rounds. Castillo got knocked out by Hatton, for example. Does it mean anything really? NO.
