Not trying to make excuses for Hatton, but

He's a good puncher and it's not like Ricky was floored or even knocked out cold when the referee seperated them, he was hurt, that happens.

I agree. All this Hatton was on the verge of being knocked out talk **** is bull****. Common guys did you watch the fight? Yeah he was hurt and holding one. But guess what that happens a lot in boxing it doesn't mean the guy was going to get knocked out, hell it doesn;t even mean he's going to get knocked down. You could agrue that the ref saved Hatton from a knock down when he started warning Juan for hitting behind the head. Personally, at the time I wasn't even worried and didn't think he was in too much danger but clearly he was hurt so the arguement that he was on his way down is understandable. But this he as about to get knocked out **** is pretty over the top.

Another thing I don't really blame the ref for the shoe lace thing. Although I've never seen a shoe lace come undone in a fight I'd assume the correct course of action would be to allow him time to tie it up. The sameway the correct course of action is to fix any other piece of equipment when something goes wrong with it in boxing. Even the versus guys who were on hatton's ass the whole night weren't on the ref for this. They said it was the right course of action and was a bad break for luzcano.

Thats not to say that the ref can be held blameless though. He did do an all round **** job. I was especially pissed off by the way that it looked like Hatton was refing the fight through the ref. Basically telling the ref when he want him to break the fighters up. That was pretty weak.
