Nov 8 Please Bring Back The Old Roy!!

You can't stop old father time catching up, id love for RJJ to ice Joe in this fight but i just can't see it Calzaghe is to active for todays RJJ.

 

If Roy works really hard on his conditioning, I believe he can do it. If his stamina can match Calzaghe's, I'll pick him. But this you'll never know til the fight happens

 

Hes looked bad since 2003, its now 2008, its not going to happen.

 

Man................ lol, I'm gonna take a risk on this one, dont knock my man. If he can get his stamina up, he's good and has a good chance. Hopefully he can do it. I'm not counting him out until cause he might be taining hard and come in real good shape.

 

Its got nothing to do with training though Roy was a fighter who relied on awesome natural speed and reflexes which have deminished greatly, hes not a crafty fighter like B-Hop who can fight at the top level into his 40's.

 

But against Calzaghe stamina will have alot to do in this fight. If he lets Calzaghe out work him then its gonna be bad for him. I know his reflexes and speed aren't the same, but he says he still has some of it, and I believe him. I think he has it in him, it just depends if he has the heart to give his best. I'm not counting him out, and I would like to get some kind of an update all throughout his training.

I would love nothing more in this world than to see the RJJ of old dancing round the ring with the swagger and the magic and the power. He is maybe my favourite ever fighter, right up there with Duran and Arguello. But anyone who thinks there is even the slightest chance of that happening is thoroughly delusional. Consider the facts:

- RJJ last beat a live, world-class opponent when he edged a decision over Tarver in '04: that's FOUR YEARS ago.

- He got sparked by Tarver, then by Johnson. RJJ would've annihilated both of these guys before the Ruiz fight. Putting on that weight and losing it again ****ed with RJJ's body in a way he didn't realize it would. His reflexes and punch resistance are gone now. If he got sparked by Tarver and Johnson at 35, then WTF is going to happen against a better fighter (I am anything but a Calzaghe fan, but the guy is ranked #2 p4p, and even though he looked like **** against Hopkins, he has been beating strong opposition since '06) when he himself is 4 years older?! There hasn't been a fighter in history that has been better or stronger or with better stamina at 39 than he was at 35, humans don't work that way.

- In his last fight, RJJ could not stop Tito Trinidad in 12 rounds. Trinidad had not fought for THREE YEARS and hadn't won a fight in FOUR YEARS, was 10lbs above his last fighting weight, and 23lbs above his natural fighting weight. I think my 170lbs grandfather could've put Tito away that night. He was rustier and more out of shape than Bette Midler.


The RJJ of 1993-2003 embarrasses Joe Calzaghe on the best night of Calzaghe's career. We're talking about an Aston Martin v a Mercedes here. But this RJJ v this Calzaghe is a mismatch. Calzaghe should be ashamed of himself for even taking the fight, beating up an over-the-hill legend (not my words, the words of Calzaghe himself in his autobiography, written in 2007) for money.

 

Dude, you're killing all my confidence in Roy. LoL. I know, cause even the Roy at 35 would lose to Calzaghe of now. And of course he's only got older. But yeah, I'm just hoping Roy has something in him that he's been holding back & that he knows something about Calzaghe that we dont.

 

His chance to win this fight is by KO with a counterpunch, this is definetly possible because he still has his power but i can't see him winning a decision.

 

I still think his stamina has alot to do with this fight

 

I know that there is zero chance of RJJ winning, but I cannot stop myself from hoping, it would just be a dream ending to the career of a true modern great!...

 

I have no doubt in RJ pullin it off. I know I will get mad **** if he loses. But i dont care. RJ is gon give Calzaghe that L. And im confident in him doing it.

If he does, he better retire and never come back. Thats the best way he can possibly end his career now, by defeating Calzaghe

 

I will be having a big bet on Roy Jones. There are many factors being overlooked pointing to a Jones win for me.
