I actually had Roberto winning the fight. The first two rounds Duran does all the fighting while Hagler fights very warily and does nothing. 12 + 13 Durans all the way Hagler runs in the ninth and besides these obvious rounds, I thought ROBERTO DURAN counterpunched the fcuk out of Hagler ok n the middle of the fight. I remember going to closed circuit of that fight like yesterday. Can't believe it's been 34 years and I'm ..... . I thought he won that night and the 83 or so times I've watched it since has not changed my opinion. Btw, Frank Newtown kicked Charlie Brown's ass that night and got robbed.
Hagler was weary of Duran's power , but why wasn't he concerned about Tommy's power. I always wondered that.
I scored for Hagler by 1 point. But it is difficult to make a case for Duran winning the fight.I certainly disagree with that
Because Tommy Hearns was not as great or diversified as ROBERTO DURAN. Hagler knew Hearns was wrak and softminded when it came to taking punishment, while Duran was an oak. Duran is a fighter considered when discussing the one greatest fighter ever. Tommy was great but generally kind of weak as a middleweight. At ANY time one punch lands and Tommy is hurt. And Duran was wheened and became the master of firefight type fights. Hearns always wilted. History proved HAGLER right about who to beware of. Duran's punch could hurt Hagler and he had a much better style to hit Hagler often as opposed to offbalanced boxing Hearns
