I would disagree with the better wrestlers part. Maybe in pure wrestling but as far as applying wrestling in MMA no one does it better than GSP. That's just a fact that admits of zero intelligent dispute.

However, your analysis seems a bit... lacking. I would say that a guy who may not necessarily be the absolute best in every category but is absolutely pristine at everything, including the transitional game, is a far greater threat than one who is the best at one and mediocre at the others and has a poor to good transition game.

I would say it's not nearly as simple as you imply.

I don't really see that much harm for either guy at catchweight? I mean if GSP loses, most people will just say GSP was to small. If Silva happens to lose (I really doubt) then people will say the catchweight drained to much from him.
Of course you are going to have a lot of idiot fans who have no idea how either of these effect the fight, but I'm sure a guy like Rogan would inform them of the size difference, and anybody can clearly see the difference.

Don't think it hurts either one that much. Big payday, super fight, the loser can go back to there weight class and save face. Not like GSP has never lost, and he's not got some ring rust anyways. So I'd bet Silva wins, but he could be in for another long night if GSP can manage to get on top.

 

Not only is Hendricks a solid wrestler that is incredibly dangerous (although clearly limited) on the feet, but he is also a southpaw, and we haven't seen GSP fight a southpaw since Trigg. We all saw how easily he avoided Koscheck's right, but will he be able to do the same thing against Hendricks' left?

Actually, he is certain to fight a southpaw next no matter who he ends up getting.

 

Anderson Silva said May is too early.

GSP needs to vacate, and fight somebody in the latter part of next Summer.

 

He is in his later parts of his career he fights the fights that get him the most $$ without doing something stupid

 

He may be able to beat GSP, but I do not believe he would get past Jon "Bones" Jones. He would not be able to get inside that 84 inch reach of Jones without paying dearly. :-(

I mean for the greatest fighter p4p and what hes done to the UFC, Dana has been surprisingly critical of Silva. Especially after the Leites, Maia fights and the biased support of Sonnen who Dana hyped up and promoted like a mofo.

Ill be honest I am not the biggest Silva fan esp after those aforementioned fights but Im a fan, Im not the UFC President. He never made me money. Meanwhile Dana White was far too easy and fast to criticize even after the Leites fight. Very unprofessional. He seemingly forgot all the highlight reel fights Silva had before that. Trying to get the fans to boo him. Thats why you can sense the bitterness of Silva even in that Like Water documentary.

Silva is going to dismantle Jones and extinguish his star power. If He is mean enough Hed destroy GSP too or maybe if He is really sinister Hed fight Hendricks at a catchweight

 

Maybe Dana is crook on Spider for getting himself into such a good negotiating position he can pretty much demand what money he chooses to fight.

Imagine what Spider could demand for fighting Jones if it came about.

 

GSP/GPS needs to think about his legacy.

In my view, it would be greatly diminished due to how comprehensively Anderson Silva would destroy him.

GSP is one of the UFC's highest paid fighters as it is, and he can easily fight for another 2 to 3 years(unless Nick Diaz gets to him first:yep)
