Now Barker has a belt at 160, will we get the British super-fights?

Billy Joe Saunders looks like he could have some talent but he's yet to be truy tested I suppose.

Congrats to Barker for a great effort.....both men gave their all and you can't ask more than that. Will Barker inherit Geales obligation to fight Sturm?
If so, this could delay or derail us seeing domestic match ups involving Macklin, Murray, Lee, BJS etc versus Barker. But I scored Sturm v Geale to Sturm and in the interests of natural justice Felix deserves a chance to get his title back, so I can't complain too much if this happens. Have to say even though he is old, I would pick a motivated Sturm (like in his last fight, or the Zbik fight for example) to beat either Barker or Geale in a fair fight with neutral judges.

Surely Eddie Hearn can get Barker a voluntary defense against Andy Lee, this fight would be easy to make since they are both promoted by Hearn.

Also I'm sure they could get Sturm or Geale over to the UK, maybe they could do a Barker v Lee & Sturm v Geale 2 on the same card, winners fight each other.

    Macklin doesn't deserve anything.

Lee is the obvious choice as I would fancy Murray to beat Barker myself.

Would like to see Sturm, then Geale, then Lee myself.

I read Barker saw his dead brother in the ring during his fight with Geale. We might get some weird testresults back :!:

agree 100%...Glad someone pulled him up on that 96. The first line of his post showed this guys true colours. "Macklin doesn't deserve anything"...what a stupid, ignorant thing to say about a guy who has always gone to the hard places and sought out the top men to fight. Maybe the bare typed words came out more harsh than he intended but this sort of attitude towards Macklin is a bit too common for my liking.
Macklin is a man whose only crime is getting smashed by GGG!!

For what it's worth Macklin is the only one of the 3 (Macklin, Murray, Geale) that I felt actually Beat Sturm.

Sturm beat Murray relatively easily, and Geale a bit less easily IMO

There should at least be 1 or 2 of the domestic bouts made, but I've a feeling we may have to wait a bit.

Barker - Sturm ought to happen, but I don't think Sturm wants a UK fight and Barker should probably think twice 'bout carrying his trinket into Felix's yard.

Geale's maneuvering for a rematch though, which could probably happen in the UK. If Barker takes that (and I think he can), Barker vs Lee has a good chance.

Macklin's fighting Rosado next from the sounds, and I think he (and DiBella) are still looking at US fights, though I've no doubt he'd come back for a Barker clash later in 2014 or '15.

Murray potentially has the GGG mando, he had his US Visa appointment last month apparently, so there should be no good reason for him not to make that fight early in 2014. If he loses (as is generally expected) I see a very strong likely hood of at least one domestic (Macklin?) later in 2014.

Andy Lee's fighting in Manchester on the Haye - Fury under, so is obviously more than open to the UK fights, but like Macklin seems happy builing his career in the states. He could fight any of the other Brits, but a Macklin fight is actually more likely to take place in the US.

Right now, incidentally, my feeling is that Murray is the strongest of the quartet, with Barker just slightly ahead of Mack and Lee. I am intested to see how Mack deals with Rosado in the wake of the GGG loss 'cos it may have taken something outta him. Lee on the other hand has no excuse not to shine 'gainst Spada on the 28th.

Indeed....someone cant remember who ..made a point on here once to me about "last fight syndrome" and I think the point applies very much to the British/Irish middleweights and how people rate/don't rate them...often ridiculously over reacting to one fight.

To apply it to what you said:
Barker is now generally rated above Macklin. But if you take away their last fight each, and weight them up against each other based on the rest of their entire career cv, Macklin is the stronger fighter.

To me it wouldn't be hilarious, or surprising, if Macklin beat Barker, and beat him comprehensively.

In fact that is what I would expect to happen.

People do rush to judgement too quickly based on what that poster said about "Last fight syndrome" (he was specifically referring to people jumping on the Leo Santa Cruz bandwagon).

Macklin has been unduly denigrated, and Murray and Barker unduly elevated recently IMO. If Macklin loses again, and the others keep up their winning ways THEN I will be revising my views. But not just yet ......

Saw on barkers twitter he was playin match maker sayin he's got to fight strum then maybe a geale rematch so he tweeted macklin and Murray sayin there's no point in "waiting around" so there's no point in waiting about and they should fight each other

Murray didnt exactly take too kind to it... Would be a class fight but I don't think it's Darren's place to be talking about other people's careers like that

I just hope all the fights happen... Macklin and murrays build up would be great... Seems to be some genuine bad blood between them and the actual fight would be savage
