Let us remember that he is fighting Antonio Margarito, a solid, but ordinary 1 dimensional pressure fighter with a very high workrate, not a P4P elite, not even a B+ level fighter in all honesty.

So when the one sided destruction occurs, let's not flood the forum with 'Cotto is P4P #1', endless Mayweather bashing and 'Cotto has improved/unbeatable' etc.

I am a Cotto fan and have been for a long time, let's please keep this in check and not have a foolish reaction like the Pac fans did over the one sided Diaz win, saying that Pac improved, ignoring the level of a 1 dimensional limited opponent. This is not even the best opponent Cotto will have faced, Mosely is and Mosely will always be able to exploit some flaws in Cotto that a limited fighter like Marg can't, that is why Cotto is going to look to his maximum tomarrow, Marg will allow it due to his own amount of major flaws.

I'm with ya. Praise in moderation is the way to go for this one.

Sad thing is I don't know where Cotto goes from here now Mayweather has shamefully ran away. Paul Williams doesn't really excite me very much.

Margarito is better than that. A world class fighter, and a tough opponent for anyone in the division. An emphatic win will be a great achievement for Cotto, against a very big welterweight.

Perhaps not worthy of pushing him to p4p no1, but a very solid win.

Pac has been showing improvement. The way he totally outclassed Diaz was very impressive, regardless of the limitations Diaz has shown. What Pac is doing is showing that he is adapting his style and still learning in the ring. Which is obviously important.

What was your reaction to Gamboa's recent win out of curiosity? I haven't been here for a few weeks.

Clottey, Williams and Berto are all very good opponents. Especially if he takes Berto last of all, once he has shown his ability against the top guys in the division.

    Great post Amsterdam.

Like you, I'm a HUGE Cotto fan (he is my favorite fighter). I think this will be a rugged fight for him, because Margo is so damn durable, but I also think he is gonna look like he is levels more talented. (which he is)

TFFP, I also agree with you. If Cotto wins, there is no longer a fight at WW that excites me at the moment. I will understand if Cotto beats up on Oscar, he deserves a big payday. Especially after taking this high risk/medium reward fight against Margo.

You see Oscar's face after Forbes fought him? Can you imagine what Cotto will make him look like? Ever hear of Rocky Dennis?

Berto would be good, its about time that train came off the rails.

Williams is okay and would be a solid win, but its not really anything that excites me given the flaws he's shown. I see Cotto having his lanky ass pissing blood by round 8 with those bodyshots.

Clottey just seems like a step down from any of these fights - and I guess what I'm saying is none of these victories are close to Mosley. There are no huge fights out there to define Cotto as he deserves, which is why I'm so disapointed Mayweather wisely ****ed off.

Honestly, outside of Berto (a year or two from now, cuz Berto isn't ready) I won't get excited if Miguel fights any of them.

Clottey is a solid B+ fighter, but Miguel will wear him down and stop him. As for Williams, a lucky punch against Quintana doesn't excite me that much, I still think Cotto tears up the all too easy to hit Williams.

If it was always about pure talent, then Meldrick Taylor would be considered today as good as PBF pound for pound... Margarito does not have the skill set of Cotto or other equally skilled fighters, but what he brings to the ring easily equals to a B+ fighter.

Margarito is not overrated at all...he's one of the best 147 fighters out there and if Cotto beats him then it simply adds to his personal legacy !!

I see Margarito overwhelming Cotto tomorrow night. Even if Cotto loses, he's still a great fighter and will win a belt again !!

Just because there isn't a mega fight doesn't mean there aren't good fights to be made. The guys i mentioned would all make for good fights. Mayweather will eventually come out of retirement. Oscar is still a decent opponent as well.

I think Berto has the ability to be a force, although he needs to step it up now. Stylistically, if Berto can manage to use his skillset against the best in the division, he can provide a tough and exciting match up for Cotto IMO. Once again though, its all a matter of how he performs in his next few fights.

Cotto will win. He may even stop Margarito very late. But he will win rounds, enough that the decision will not be abhorantly one-sided.

Heart. Heart and the fact that Cotto has more dimensions than his opponent is the very reason this one will go later, and probably to the cards.

My card will be something like 116-112

Fair enough, i think Mayweather will definitely come out of retirement personally, no question. That is the match up we all want to see:deal

Cotto will end up being DQ'ed for nut-punching Williams, since Williams nuts are at about chin level for Cotto. :nut
