the only way its a wash for Cotto is if he pot shots and runs like Fraud did with Baltazar. . . if he wins that we he still "loses" by becoming Fraud. :deal

    ignorance.

Amsterdam, do you think the 5' 6" Cotto is going to back up Margarito? You are crazy, if Cotto trys to wade in and back up Margo he will get KTFO. The only guys to back up Margarito were Paul Williams and Daniel Santos who happen to be Giant left handed freaks. Santos is the size of Mikkel Kessler when the bell rings, he made Margo look like a light weight in their 2 fights. Boxing Margarito is Cotto's only chance. Margarito does only a few things well but he does them better than anybody, kind of like Kelly Pavlik. Guys see a slow heavy footed Mexican and then they get in the ring and get that "Oh ****" look on their face. The only guys who handled Margo in the last 12 years have been 6' 2" Lefties, last time I checked God's gift to boxing ( Cotto ) is 5' 6" and fights usually in a orthadoxed style. I like Cotto but tomorrow night he is going to lose. I respect him for fighting real fighters and being a true champion.

    On your part.

Yes, not the whole fight obviously, but at key points he can and most likely will have Margarito backing up.

Utter horse****, if he jabs in and smothers Marg, he is at the advantage. Marg is not an awesome in-fighter, he works best at the mid-range where he gains full leverage on his work.

    :huh

Like what? Plod forward and throw a heavy volume of arm punches at mid-range and have the chin to absorb most offence from the opponent? What does he do better than anybody, what in the hell are you talking about?

Nobody he fought has Cotto's timing, precision, ring intelligence nor skill. Nor power for that matter, maybe Santos hits as hard as Cotto, could be, but Cotto has far more damaging overall offense and Margarito is the one who's workrate will drop in half and will be the one on the end of consistent punishment until the bout is stopped.

His body is an open canvas also, expect a lot of damage to be done there.

    Amsterdam,

Sorry but your post sounds like an exercise in wishful thinking. Are you only aware of the power of delusion and its ability to regenerate itself under different forms?

The table is already set for a new wave of debilitating nonsense, mark my words. Cotto is to be godified, starting this coming Sunday.

Oh and it's M-O-S-L-E-Y, not Mosely.

Yes, but notice has to be brought up prior to it. Marg is going to be beautifully crushed by a precision beatdown and they will all be surprised and react accordingly, ignoring that Marg isn't what they think he is.

Do people watch fights? Guess not.

Pac fans dd go crazy when he beat Diaz. As if there was a doubt he would....

Anyways Im pretty sure Margarito is levels above Diaz. I think Diaz might be the slowest fighter to have ever lived.

A dominant win (which I anticipate) over a solid B just keeps the flame alive, doesn't necessarily fan it. :nod

Indeed, keeps the flame alive as it should, but doesn't fan it, or(what is coming, causes a nuclear explosion.:-(

you're pathetic. Leave the boxing discussion for those that actually watch it, not just read about it.

I think that this fight will be close but it can break one way or the other. Actually I like Cotto to edge Margarito out by either a wide UD or late KO/TKO. Cotto can bang and bruise like Margarito but he has the smarts and skills to box, move, and engage when necessary whereas Margo just moves forward. GO COTTO!!!

It would be reasonable to think that this fight presents more upside for Margarito than for Cotto, the former having a lot to gain, the latter having more to lose.

Given that reason has deserted boxing fans, my sense is a win for Cotto will be greeted as the second advent of Christ (I suspect that Cotto planners are aware of this).

Pac beating B-Level David Diaz generated collective hysteria, I can already imagine the kind of antics this board will generate starting in a bit more than 24 hours from now.

    Run for cover...
