I agree with alot of this post, but there's a few things I disagree with. I personally rate Marg as a borderline B+ level fighter, not due to his skills but because of his great intangibles. This is using my own personal scale of course, so there's bound to be differences in opinion. I don't particularly like Marg, nor do I think he's a great fighter, but he deserves a little more credit than you give him. This'll be an entertaining fight, but I still pick Cotto to win a wide decision, with a late round stoppage not out of the equation. If Marg does get stopped it'll be from accumilation of body shots, definately not a punch to the head.

I expect Cotto to use his overall superior skills to outbox the much slopper Margarito form the outside, with his jab being a big weapon. His punches are alot shorter and his left hook will definately be able to get through Marg's guard. He'll utilise his footwork and counterpunching, allowing him to cut Margarito's punch outputt dramatically. At times he'll even be able to out-fight him up close, due to his more compact punches, superior defence and explosiveness. Marg may win a round or 2 early, but he'll eventually get outboxed, outfought and aken apart. Basically I rate Cotto as by far the better fighter.

I agree this won't be the fight to take Cotto to P4P No.1, but it'll still be one of his best wins nonetheless. Marg is a good welterweight who would give many other top fighters from 147-154 a hard time. If Cotto beats him easily than most people will be impressed, even if that's what I'm expecting. No matter the outcome Molsey will be still be his best win in my books (I rate even a past it Mosley as A level). Yes Cotto is beatable, but I wouldn't favour anyone over him today at 147. However I would expect many of the past greats to trash him something fierce however (Hearns/Leonard/etc).

There probably will be a massive over reaction if Cotto wins convincingly tomorrow, let's just hope that it doesn't go overboard. It'll all be back to normal in a week or so anyway. I'll be fan no matter what happens.

He did it against Mosley although it was in spurts. If he can box a little bit every once in a while (which he will) and get in get out he will win the fight. That's what makes him the complete fighter of the two. Margo just knows to go forward and try to overwhelm his opponent. What if that doesnt work. He's not going to have a plan B. There is a reason why Cotto is one of the best P4P and not margarito.

I think that this fight will be close but it can break one way or the other. Actually I like Cotto to edge Margarito out by either a wide UD or late KO/TKO. Cotto can bang and bruise like Margarito but he has the smarts and skills to box, move, and engage when necessary whereas Margo just moves forward. GO COTTO!!!

Hate, they are no way equal on the inside. Margo is sloppy there and his arms are too long to realy be effective. His primary weapon on the inside is his uppercut. A beautiful uppercut it is but as long as cotto doesn't get too sloppy trading inside or lunging, he should be fine.

I think alot of his "sloppy" talk comes from the fact that Margo like's
to switch from southpaw/orthodox in the middle of a combo.
it defo look's sloppy but it is thrown by design.
It's actualy one of his better qualities, Punches come from strange angles,
sometimes the jab is actually a straight left. he defo don't have the polish of a Cotto...
Then again, Miguel seem's to have been waxed maybe a lil' too much by the critic's and poster's, he is good but his build up for this fight has been Pep'ish..

That may be the case, may be legitimate also, but no higher than that.

Cotto is a helluva fighter but his hours are now numbered.
I like margarito by KO. I hope it's not a real late KO because
this could cause serious damage to cotto's health. Hopefully
his corner or the ref stops this fight before Cotto gets seriously
    hurt.

    1. Cotto could not stop SSM and Margo is much bigger, more durable and will be throwing many more punches
    2. Cotto has been hurt fairly easily

Whatever you think but I believe Margo has a very good chance. Sure Cotto might put on a 12 round boxing clinic, but if that happens there is no way he is KOing Margo. The only way he stops Margo is putting himself at risk, so those of you who have bet on Cotto stopping Margo, you wasted your money.
